I messed up

#250603 Posted on 2021-12-16 14:43:01

Before my last hiatus, I started a line of dressage Paints, and I've since been working on them again. However, I realized that my breeding pairs will be messed up later down the line. I purchased 20 (10 female, 10 male) Foundation horses, which will get me down to five horses left eventually. Currently I'm trying to determine whether I should just let them be and purchase six new Foundation horses once I breed my current Paints, or would it be better to buy 12 new Foundation horses now, and simply lock my existing Paints until everyone catches up. I really don't want to wait an extra eight to nine weeks to breed my horses, but at the same time I don't want to make the stats worse by adding in six new Foundations (I'm breeding for stats). Has anyone ever been in this situation, and what did you do?

Personally add more foundations to the next generation, you will have to do so anyway to keep the line going as dressage Paints aren't a popular discipline for the breed.

What I do on my main is lock until the next line is ready, sometimes I do it generation to generation, other times I complete the line before making a new one. I also breed for stats and I want to say all of my lines are my own horses (though I do breed foals to sell and stud/broodmare for others), though there may be one or two lines that have others in them. The waiting can be hard, but it is fun to see all the hard work pay off.

I have some first gens coming up for their first breeding, I also have some second gens I don’t know where to place, I don’t mind giving you what I don’t keep
