Putting studs up?

#248843 Posted on 2021-10-11 18:00:15

Hey friends!

I’m looking for some advice. I tend to put my studs up for too little based on color, stats, confo, ns.. etc..

Does anyone have a stud calculator fee or anything that could help me out?

Thank you!

It's personal preference really, and it boils down to how you value your own time as a resource.

Idk how low "low" is for you, but usually from what I have seen, well trained foundies (regardless of colour) usually are about 10-25k. And really you can go from there.

I normally list my horses (western QH) starting at 50k, which generally seems to be the ballpark for "good" studs/brood; and I scale my pricing purely on NSS. I top out (generally) at about 120k for the lowest NSS, and I charge more for broodmares as they have a finite number of foals they can produce.

But to be completely honest, people using your  stud/broods is entirely dependent on breed/discp popularity... and colour/total stats for some reason.
