Feed Mix Question

I have not purchased any feed mix and for years when I have played off and on I never needed tp purchase feed mix.  is there a reason why you can buy the stuff but you dont need it to care for your horse?  is there an added benefit of feeding the feed mix vs not feeding it?  Confused about the feed mix basically lol

Feed mix just feeds your horses as part of the care routine. It is helpful to fully care for your horses for a better show score. It replaces the old feed mix that would assign stats- as extra stats are now gained through showing or schooling now.
