Saving draft messages

#23763 Posted on 2016-03-27 09:30:20

I'll be real, I have not a single clue how feasible this would be, and I do expect it to be low on a priority list, HOWEVER, I was just think it would be nice to have a saving to draft feature on private messages, the message boards, or both would be nice.

Now, this could have several benefits. Say for instance you're on a laptop, writing out a long, detailed important message, nowhere near an outlet (it happens to the best of us!) And boom, it dies, with you having noway to plug it in for several hours, all that typing..for naught, lost to the technical void. However, if there were a draft option it could be saved. Of course, there's always the option of writing it in an outside source, such as wordpad, notepad, etc, but I'd wager a lot of people may not think to do that. I know I certainly don't. Unless it's PARTICULARLY important.

For private messages, this could have many more benefits than for the forums, for example, say you sell art, you have a sale that ends, but you're waiting on payment and want to be prompt with the payment, and you only have access to the image uploads from your PC for whatever reason (e.g. my phone for instance doesn't like image heavy websites and won't load things like deviant art or flickr), it would be nice to be able to save a draft of the PM, and when the buyer's send payment, you can immediately send out their product without them having to wait too terribly long if you're going to be away for awhile. It's convenient for both the buyer and the seller.

Another benefit would be the same as the message boards.

This sounds like an amazing and very useful idea!
Especially for me because I kill everything so fast >.<
(some of y'all should know what I mean ^^)
Its sucks, I write a big long message (my apologies for the person whom has to receive) and boom. Dead. Then I go and bang my head against a wall for half an hour or longer while I wait for whatever type of technology I was using to recharge... Story of my life.
Same thing happens ALL the time when I'm putting together a post or sale on the forums... >.>

In one word, SUPPORT.

Very useful idea for sure.

Though for those of you that don't know, lazarus extension on Chrome offers a similar feature! For in the mean time if you're worried :)

We have a similar feature already, your journal. You can access it under your Status Bar. It says
Your Journal | Your Activity
Click Your Journal, and it works just fine! Most don't know about the feature, but time is very helpful.
