The importance of pedigree?

I've seen that some breeders top priority/main focus in their breeding program is pedigree, even when you can't inbreed in EV. Why is that? What do they look for in the pedigrees?

Focussing on pedigree tends to means a couple different things on here. You can inbreed on EV, you just can't closely inbreed. 

So people might look for pedigrees that don't have related horses or any duplicate names on the first page, some do the whole pedigree too. They may also look for unbroken lines, where there are no deceased names in the pedigree but this is rare to find now. 

It might also mean that they look for uncommon names in a pedigree vs one that has a lot of popular horses in it (you see this in a lot of 3k+ and 90%+ confo horses) as a way to keep their lines as diverse as possible. Or for pedigrees with an even amount of horses on each side. 

Either way, this doesn't affect anything in the game other than people who might have specific goals or just prefer a challenge.
