Ive been missing! (Pics! Sorry!)

I have been missing!

I have had a very busy year. Or how long has it been since I've been on here? Geez, I dont even remember to be honest.

Well!

I believe I was on here two years ago when I was getting ready to move!
I have successfully relocated to the state of Idaho in general. I have been here for almost two years (February will be 2 years).
My boyfriend of 8 years and I have separated, he had moved out to go live with his friend and things just went downhill from there. Past is past! Been separated for a little over a year now. No pain anymore.

Back in May, I had the opportunity to buy a colt. He was listed as a yearling red roan tobiano paint/quarter cross.
I travelled 3 hours to see him (I had already paid for board, so was sure I'd be coming home with him anyway)
He was an extremely ugly colt in my opinion at that point. He was shaggy, potbellied, seemed very skittish and flinched whenever anyone moved too fast. Still, I was going to take him. So we had him led to the trailer and was told he'd only ever trailered once before and hasn't had anything done to him since. I expected troubles to arise but he flew right in (literally, flew... you'd have thought he was a grand prix jumper with how high he jumped) and tied, stood quietly when the side bar was shut, and we were on our way. We got him to the stable I was going to board him at and he absolutely refused to walk into the stable. I'm guessing he had never seen a shelter or anything like that before because with coaxing he went in easily. He was a little hard to catch the first two days but the third, he started standing still for me to grab him. Within a week, he was approaching me instead.

He is named Dean Winchester. As he shed out and got prettier, I have come to the conclusion (and im willing to put money on me being right when I get him genetic tested) that he is not a red roan tobiano but a chestnut tobiano sabino. I'm not a fan of sabino, but Dean makes it work. I have come to really have a strong bond with this horse in the last seven months. Oh and did I mention that he was NOT a yearling when I got him? He was six months old, hadn't fully grown all incisors, and that explained the potbellied look and such. It's been quite an adventure. He is a solid looking yearling now (13 months old!) and he is a looker. Both vets he has seen has said hes a good looking boy and so well mannered. In these short months, he has gone from just being halter broke to yielding his hinds willingly and energetically, he round pens, lunges, backs up, trailers like a dream, he picks up all four feet, will let you throw a tarp on him and around him, he is fine around flags, he accepts the bit and bridle, has been saddled and cinched up with a childs saddle, he stands in the cross ties and will stand tied though he still gets bored, he has been on a trail "ride" (it was actually just us walking our horses in-hand) and did great. He and I have been dabbling in liberty work as well, he will run after me the moment I run away and he knows when asked to trot/walk in a small circle around me and follow my direction when we turn. Dean is very much my heart horse.  He actually hurt himself last month. He ripped open his face and needed seven stitches. They have been removed and you can see where he was injured but that is fine. I was more concerned with nerve damage, which he has none of according to the vet, thank goodness.

Recently, I have found myself in another relationship. He is a great guy. I won't go into much more detail. Just I am happy.

Also, November, I had the opportunity to pick up another horse. This time, it was a 4 year old mare. She is 14.3 hands high, black tobiano, and is now named Nakota. She is broke to ride, has been used to give lessons, but she is still very spooky. She panics at the most random things but it's nothing I can't work through with her. She is definitely a challenge versus Dean but I have no doubt that with time she'll become a very good mannered girl. She just isn't as brave or reckless as Dean. Maybe it's cuz she is a mare and not a gelding. Boys are usually braver and more reckless in any species, to be honest. I have a long journey to go with her but she's now to the point where she will follow me around.
Here have some images! 8D

If you made it through this I applaud you!
