There are lots of great websites out there that are helpful. I have never actually played polo, but have seen it before. But it looks amazing! I can't wait to see what you learn! This sounds amazing :D

I'm not a polo player, but I do know that you have to have a brave horse and lots of leg muscle.  Because you are gonna have to guide your horse with your legs and maybe one hand while you are hitting the ball on the ground with your mallet.  You will be in an English saddle, so then there's that too and not having a horn to hold onto when galloping.
I do lots of stretches in the saddle for barrel racing that you can also do for polo.  It'll help with the grip on your knees and calves.  I do this bareback and with no stirrups.  Grip with your knees only and have your horse walk around as you're also holding your hands out.

You proabably will want to desensitize your horse to the mallet also if you haven't already.   :)     Horses are prey animals so things flailing past their heads, bumping their legs and what not can scare them if they aren't properly desensitized.

Have fun! Being good at something takes time and practice.

hey!!

I am also new to Polo and have recently joined my collegiate team.

I'm still learning as well, but if you want to message me, I can help you out with things I know so far as they are fresh in my mind!
