Praying Mantis

#209766 Posted on 2019-09-28 17:42:30

Hi,

My Mom saw a praying mantis on our screen door and I went to see it. It not very big, but it was kinda long and a little big.

It coloring was brown-ish tan and I gently touched one of its legs, it didn’t move, but just moved it’s leg a little bit.

I want to know: Was it sick or was it hunting for food? I thought it was sick, because the praying mantises I saw were bright green to green.

If anyone knows about praying mantises, Please let me know, Thanks.

Praying mantis can be shades of brown and green, and it usually depends on their environment. So whatever color they are, it helps them blend in best with the habitat it  spends most of its time in c: I'd say it was either hunting, or just hanging out and was probably just fine health wise c:

I was interested in them for a bit, didn't really learn much about their behavior, more of habitat and diet. But they usually don't move a ton from what I know, it was probably just chilling there. They can also be a bunch of different colors, look up the orchid Mantis on google, it's super pretty

Orchid Mantis are soooo cool (biology geek here, I love all the fun camo of nature xD ). I would love to see one in real life. But yeah mantis are pretty chill. I had one live on a bag my fiancé took hunting. The bag was gross, the bugs loved it, so the mantis loved it and I refused to move it from outside until the mantis had his fill. I watched that sucker hunt for days, and it was awesome. He was almost yellow, and just so cool to watch. t never once cared I was there. I ran into another the other night and it scared me, cause I only spotted it for half a second with my flashlight. It was more ready to fight me than wanting to get away xD

We have had a brown camouflage looking praying mantis on our back porch for days. Keeps popping up in different places. They are really neat!
