I’m so excited!

#208200 Posted on 2019-08-29 18:40:00

I’m working with someone who is helping me find a place in my area where i can take riding lessons.
I know it sounds silly, but i plan to start on the ground.

Brushing up on and expanding on what i know about basic safety.
Learning how to halter and tack up a horse.
Learning how to groom horses.
Learning how to muck stalls.
Learning the basics of feeding a horse.

After that, i will ask about riding.

I’m not quite sure how long it will take to find one, but i can’t help bubbling over with excitement.

That's great! It's important to feel comfortable around horses before you attempt to ride, it's a good idea!

Starting from the basics and putting in a good foundation is ALWAYS the way to go. Good for you!    :)

Very wise of you to not put the proverbial cart before the horse *badum tis*

But seriously, good going. I know a lot of people who would be all cocky about it and try to start out galloping without even knowing what a hoof-pick is lol

Thank you all so much.
I know a few basics and am very comfortable around horses, but i thought it would be best to refresh my knowledge and expand on it.
The last lessons i had were very brief and more of a crash course.
Because i’d like to enter competitions someday, i feel i need more detailed lessons.
It’s one thing to know what a hoof pick is and what it is for, but it’s a completely different one to know how to hold and use it properly.
I always feel there is always more i can learn. Every day is always a new lesson in some way.
