Trading Post

#20809 Posted on 2016-03-18 21:35:06

The "Trading Post" would be a new subsection under the Art Community. It's function would be served in the capacity of doing art trades or the like. Since, strictly speaking, art trades aren't sales but they're not giveaways either.

For example:: If I were to create two new designs on lines that are not allowed to be sold for any currency but are allowed to be traded for other art. The proposed "Trading Post" would be the correct place to put something like that since I'm neither selling nor giving away the designs.

I really hope I'm making sense.

I don't really think we need this. It's pretty easy to put "Design Trade" in the title of a post.

Easy, yes, but organizationally it makes more sense to have a section for art/design trades. If it were all just a matter of easily labeling your post, then why even bother with subsections at all?

I'm on the fence with this one, if Im beign honest.

Orginizationally, I do agree with you, but, it'd be more for the mods to sift through, and as was stated, it's easy to just lable "design trade" in the title.

I both support and don't support. X_x

To my thinking, it shouldn't create any more work for anyone, really. It'd be the same posts that are already being posted, just in it's own section. But as I'm not a mod, I can't be certain of my thinking as I don't know how their responsibilities work.

I just know that there are already a fair number of design/art/character trade threads that would likely be better suited, or at the very least better organized and easier to find, in their own subsection. -shrugs-

This is going to come off as rude, but I promise i'm not trying to be. But I don't really agree with the whole "more work for mods" thing because that's what they signed up for as a mod, isn't it in the nature of the beast?

I support and would love to see it implemented.

Well, yes, but, there can only be so many mods, and they are only human. I've moderated places before, and it is a lot more work and headache than one would think, especially if you've not done it before.

With a new subsection comes another set of rules for that subsection, and who knows, even quite a lot more posts to deal with.

You can't really rely on people to self police themselves, and I, personally, dont know what its like to be on a mod on this particular game, but I do remember that more forums meant more behind the scenes modding and work.

So, yes I like the idea for orginizational purposes, Im not sure it's a good idea or necessary in the long run.

But again, if it's too much or you can't handle it, then hand in the badge to someone who is ready to deal with people and/or potential issues. It would be one more forum, and honestly a lot of people can/are able to report issues to mods if they don't see it- I do it all the time.

Yes, but, mods aren't paid workers in most cases. They volunteer, and more often than not, is a very very thankless job, and again, I don't know what they have to deal with here, but in my experience, a lot of very very viscious vitriol thrown at them FOR doing their "job". It's easy to get burned out on it when you get a lot of back lash.

Most don't mod, again, in my experience for the love of dealing with people. They do it because they love the game and want to see it succeed, and, that means taking on some less than desirable tasks.

Maybe my opinion is formed on biases I've developed over my own times as a moderator and adminstrator of various things.

Yeah but if they are volunteering which in this case the are, then what are they expecting as a moderator? The people who are mods have been around on here long enough and have experienced what a mod would/has to deal with. It's not a forced position which is why it's hard for me to have sympathy for them. Do I appreciate them? Yes
But if they aren't ready for a heavy workload on here then why apply to be a mod at all? If you can't do it then let someone else who has more time/ want to deal with people and issues.

I think it would make things a lot easier, especially for people who don't do art (like me), and we want auctions/flat sales instead.
