Gypsy Vanner Breeders. Where are you?

#203387 Posted on 2019-05-19 11:49:19

While Gypsy Vanners continue to be one of the most populated breeds in the game it seems that finding horses for sale or to breed to is actually not all that simple. I'm slowly moving my main focus back to Gypsy Vanners and would love to connect with other breeders. I will list what my main goals are for my horses and hope that other breeders will do the same in this post. Then maybe we could find each other more easily?

Disciplines: Dressage, Show Jumping, Driving, Western, Endurance
Goals: 60 or less non specialty stats, all good+ conformation
Does color matter?: I love all the fancy colors and patterns but this comes second to the conformation and non specialty stats that are equally important to me.

I hope to offer more public breedings from "my" lines in the future but right now I do offer breedings to my horses that are lined that I either bought from other players or bred from other players.

I'm just getting back into the flow of things after not being active for a while.

I have a small herd of 20 2nd gen (generation after foundations, everyone calls them different things) and 4 foundations currently and they're all 9 years, as well as some miscellaneous horses here and there. They're all driving and I mostly breed for colors and stats. Confirmation is not a priority but still a small goal. Most of the herd have cream or are brown, and I'm hoping to introduce silver, pangare, and flaxen within the next generation.

I'm planning to offer "custom" foals from the line when they're 18, but I'm always open to outside sales and breedings before then! I'm not sure when I'll be incorporating outside lines into my own lines, but I'm pretty picky with the generations matching up so I'll have to find some 3rd gen horses if I want to add non-foundations next generation lol.

I breed GVs for Endurance and colour. I generally just have one pair that is ageing, and I try to buy a partner for their foal to stimulate the market a bit. Once my GVs are 3, I put them up for stud/brood :)

cazoo - I LOVE your name themes on those 2nd gens, very cool! I'm going to do my first round of breedings from my foundations next week, pretty excited for that. Maybe when you offer some of those custom breedings I could snag a few!

Io - awesome, I actually do have a few endurance gypsy vanners as well! Not sure if I will keep up with them or not in the future as I just have a young group of foundations right now, but we shall see!

Bummer, I've been phasing out my GV lines, but I used to have a lot when I did all draft horses. Best of luck to you! I always did mine in driving.

FG - I didn't realize wild bay was so desirable, I have a few myself so that is cool. Do you ever do custom breedings or sell foals for other users?

I breed gypsy vanners for driving.
Colors: i love all of them, except gray.
Patterns: splash, roan, or no pattern.

Goals:
Reduce non specialty stats to 60 or fewer.
Conformation: 58+. I’m hoping to eventually have all goods or better.

My herd is currently too small to offer any for sale though.

Do you try and get splash and roan together SA? that is my favorite marking combo on GVs! I want a bunch of them, lol.

Mine are all locked for now for the same reason, I kinda fell out with the breed even though I love all the colours they come in. I've been slowly working them to retirement between my other drivers but with the few precode ns foals I had for sale I struggled to shift so it made me anxious to actually breed my bigger shorter gen herd.

I just breed for colour and conformation since some of my older vanners don't have the best ns for stats (bought them when this version went live lol) but I'm looking to introduce new short generations to my better stat herd.

I'm just now getting back into playing actively again. I was trying to raise the stats of my gypsies and to get high conformation gypsies. I've also been trying to give them peppermints and sugar cubes to try and keep all their stats pretty level so a person who breeds to them later can put the offspring in any discipline instead of being subject to just say, driving because that's what their stats would be good at only really. So I'm trying to get high stats, better conformation and color is pretty high on my list, too. I like the pretty color horses XD.

@Olympea, yes, i love splash and roan together as well.
I will avoid splash and roan if they are combined with other patterns though.
For white horses, i look for splash, W+, and WRn in their genetics.
