deciding on a discipline

#198726 Posted on 2019-01-17 13:46:25

Hey....so I would like to start working with paints on my main but I am having trouble deciding which discipline to put them in. I have racing paints on my side account and I would like to have either dressage, driving, or show jumping on this account. Does anyone else breed paints in any of those 3 disciplines?  I was thinking I like the way the dressage tack looks, since the reins actually show up(hahaha) but yea I don't really know which one I want to choose!

Help me I'm indecisive

I would say it depends on the stats that they are dominate in and how much work you want to put into these new pixel ponies to get them up to snuff for showing then breeding.  It may take many real months to get them up in the appropriate stats to even be ready for the lowest levels of showing, so you would need to be committed and you have to breed wisely to stock that are higher in the stats you want, even if they might be less desirable in other ways like confo stats or coloring. These things could possibly throw off any color or confo breeding you may have been into, so it would be a complete makeover lol  If your bored and have the time id say go with the one you really want.

Im in the process of training for show jumping QH's on a Foundation filly, that way if it doesn't pan out I didn't destroy a perfectly good well bred western mare. So being partial to the Show Jumping id say go with Show jumping, not as many people in that yet.  I see tons of Dressage and Western horses, I haven't run into any Show Jumping, not saying they aren't out there I just have run into many on this game yet.

Conformation doesn't play too much of a role with me as I breed my horses with the first priority being showing capability. The horses I get for this will most likely be from the equine center so will all be foundation stock. If I really want nice colors I can always use coat randomisers on them to get "prettier" colors although I'm not sure I care too much about that either, lol.

I still don't know which one I want to do, haha. I am so indecisive. That should have been my player name. Indecisive.

Lol true that may have been a better name.  I got my name from a 2 amazing arabian stallions: True Colours and Khartoon Khlassic.  Hence Kholour, plus it matches me I love color, art, and creativity.  So id say i am a colorful person at heart lol

I'm setting mine up for Endurance as they might work well in that area. That or Western I think for Paint's.

Western is the most popular discipline and most in need of new blood to counteract the masses of same pedigree foals.

Endurance is less popular (I think in terms of activity there's more show jumping and racing paints than endurance) but it did used to be as widespread as Western. I used to breed Endurance paints myself- Hullabaloo is the last of my old herd. If you do decide on Endurance then I may just continue with my plans to work with them again.

My sister breeds Paints in western and driving, I'm pretty sure western is the most popular for the breed :) you can also look at the statistics to gauge where you want to go with them

I'll have some in endurance Maple, and some maybe in Western as well. Once this group get moving. I'm only putting 4 store horses at a time into each breed.
