Treating Strategy?

#198609 Posted on 2019-01-14 18:50:52

I'm curious to know if there is a certain way to give treats to horses to better improve their chances in shows and raising stats.Β

I used to give my horses both of their treats needed to boost their corresponding discipline skills so that both stats would be the same numbers, but lately I've found this method to be a bit too tedious and have switched to just assigning every horse the same treat depending on their discipline. For example, I now only give carrots to my Thoroughbreds who race and yellow apples to my Trakehners who compete in show jumping.

Is one skill more important than the other in the show formula, or are both skills accounted for the same? What are some advice you have for treating efficiently?

I swap treats when I remember/can be bothered (usually when I run out) but don't have a set system. Since training/riding school is going to spread stats out over both discipline stats it doesn't rank as a high priority.

I'm pretty sure they're weighted the same in shows, but it would be interesting to see if anyone has actually done a test to check.

This is what I do. For example:

Two horses who are paired up. Endurance is their discipline and the treats are Green Apple and Turnip. Horse A is fed Green Apples while Horse B is fed Turnips. When they have 400+ in Intelligence or Endurance (or whatever are the core stats for their chosen discipline) I switch them out, and by the time they're old enough for breeding; they are fairly even and if not, the other balances the foal fairly well. :)

All I do is put one type of treat on my stallions and the other on my mares in each group.Β

So my driving dutchies the mares all get red apples and stallions get turnips. Seems to work out alright for my horses as they usually place well in shows.Β
