October can be over now. :(

So far this month we lost my grandmother in law, found out my car wasn't worth fixing, had to get a new car, the place I board at isn't going to board horses anymore so I have to move them by dec and will be paying 2x the cost in board..now today my sister calls me to tell me her horse George(who my oldest son calls his, loves and adores) is not doing well and they are having the vet come evaluate today to see whether or not it is time. He has an old injury from before my sister got him that has gotten progressively worse over the past year. He started dropping weight about a month ago so she moved him to the round pen alone to grain him and try and get him eating...she said he has a swollen sheath now and a huge lump on his belly. She thinks it is probably time. He has had trouble walking and getting around for awhile now and she doesn't think he would be able to make it through winter anyway.

I have to pick my 10 year old son up early from school to go out and brush him, pet him, love him, give him some carrots and ask him if he is going to want to be there if and when he is euthanized.  This is my sister and my son's heart horse. My son would go out and groom him and just spend hours laying on his back or petting him.

My heart is breaking for my sister, for the probable loss of George, and mostly for my son. I hope that I say and do the right things today. :( :(

I'm really proud of my son. He stayed with George throughout the entire thing. He was very brave. Rough night though :(
