Avoiding Next Generation Match ups

#191774 Posted on 2018-10-18 10:03:05

Does anyone else absolutely HATE matching up their foals into breeding pairs once you've breed them?? Its my most hated part of the game. IDK why because I enjoy raising them once they are unlocked & working their way through the EV show system ranks but I just cant stand matching them up initially!

Literally to the point where I avoid it for months on end until I notice I have like 250 plus locked next gen foals that are in dire need of sorting out. But of course now I have hundreds to go through because I avoided the task for months. So I hate it even more. So I avoid it another month. Can you see a cycle here??? So I noticed I had 303 foals todays & thought "right Im starting to pair these pixels up"Β

Im doing them in breed/discipline batches to save my sanity. I did my Dressage Trakes & after coming up with some creative names I got bored. So Im avoiding the task again! But then again I usually only do a batch each day. Tomorrow will be the SJ Trakes. Then SJ Dutchies, then Western Chincos.

But I just wondered if anyone else hated this or is it just me???

I hate it too. I hate pairing up foundations as well. I hate pairing any of them, lol. I even have groups of horses I never really intend to breed just to avoid having to pair them and then their foals and so on.Β

I hate it too. I name my foals with letter code after their ancestors, so I would see more less how related they are to each other while pairing them up, but I know some people don't like naming horses "ABMJKI53127612" or so. Right now I wait for most of my 3 gen. horses to die out, so I could name gen. 4 and refresh the code.

I go by conformation and color nowadays; as stats are SOOO easy to earn! But you're right, it takes so long, and gives me a headache in doing so. I tend to pair them up 2-5 at a time: to get it done and to force myself to be active for the next generation.

I actually love pairing horses... my lines are all unrelated though, so it's easy to avoid in/line breeding accidentally. I use an algorithm to pair by conformation which does most of the decisions.

Phew I thought it was just me!

@sikora - You have a good system there! Unfortunately I name mine a few letters of the sire & dam which can cause a bit of confusion!

@Almare - Most of my horses are related (especially the SJ Trakes a situation I am trying to fix!) although I Have 4 distinct seperate lines for the Dutch Wbs but I still have to check through each ones pedigree.Β

@Feathered Gold - I match Trakes & Chincos up by colour then confo but Dutch WB & Friesians by stats then confo. I dont like taking too much of a stat hit by having a massive difference in the matched up generations. Usually no more than 2-3 gen difference like a 3rd gen with a Foundie or a 15th gen with a 12th.Β

I hate it too - especially now that I have bought 2 herds of gypsies from the same owner & most are Gg's!!!! the last owner knew what they were doing as I seem to be a soft touch (not being able to transfer them out) & will have to carefully choose the right mate.

I love it.Β  Coming up with names is fun.Β  Plus I generally lead by confirmation, their stats will eventually even out down the line.
