What if we had another way to get rid of horses? Maybe if we had non-player characters looking to buy horses. Like a little girl looking for her first competition horse or a family looking to buy their kids a pony or a trainer looking for a project. Something where you'd be able to dump certain horses without a fee and it won't clog up the game. We could still have the RC, but there'd be some kind of limit for how many horses you can "sell" each day and you might get anywhere from $200 to $1000 for the horses or maybe more depending on the stats and training. But you'd go to the page and their might be ISO listings or their might be quests to fulfil like you have to find two chestnut QHs. I thought it might help lessen the amount of unwanted horses on EQ. Feel free to add on or comment constructive criticism bc I don't have everything figured out.
If you don't support, please comment why.

I'd love this if you had to find certain horses with certain requirements.
"My little girl would love a pony, but she can't handle one that's too high-strung!" And beside it it would say that she requires a horse with, say, between 100-200 stats. Or she's been dreaming of one that's a certain color, or needs one of a certain specialty. You'd get a limited number of quests per day; you could skip one, but it would still count as using up a quest slot. It would be possible for the quest to pay out more than it cost to make the horse, but probably not as much as it would cost to make many more than that. The payout would be somewhat random, but it would be heavily based on how difficult the quest was. And there can be quests that specify they want a horse with excellent breeding (i.e. it must have x generations in its pedigree). Those quests would pay out more and would even perhaps give a special item.
This would obviously lead to more breeding, but cheap horses may also sell better due to their quest potential. The potential for profit should be higher than the cost of buying/creating the horse, but it shouldn't be a guarantee. Instead of doing rescues, people could help newbies by breeding cheap horses they can give them to complete quests. It should be possible for someone to "hold onto" one quest per day, so if they don't complete it but really want to do it, that one quest will stay there until they finish it. There can be a time limit or not, so they might have to complete it in a week or it'll be reset. It will still count as one of their quests for the day, and they can only save one at a time.
Players could also get achievements for completing a certain number of quests. These could come with item/money prizes. And/or each completed quest gives you a point that you can eventually exchange for prizes.
OR! Quests could be available to all players, on one giant quest board, and you have to be the first person to complete it. Then a new quest will take its place. Ooh! How about it's a club feature? Only members within a certain breed club can complete the quests, and all horses have to be horses of that club's breed. This would only apply to official breed clubs, and would be a significant incentive to remain active in clubs. Perhaps other clubs could unlock this feature, and admins/owners could set the parameters for quest generation (i.e. color, stats, breed, specialty). Players could still only complete a certain number of quests each day, and other limits would likely have to be placed to prevent abuse of the system. Perhaps you would have to choose at least a certain number of parameters. This feature would be rife with bugs and would require a whole lot of tweaking, but I think such a huge feature would bring something completely, wonderfully new to the gameplay, unlocking a whole new dimension of not what to breed for, but who to breed for.

I like the idea but at the same time I'm not sure, I feel like it'd be very (and further) detrimental to the market to have an NPC that will buy any unwanted horses. Though I feel a little better about this suggestion if it's an only this colour/breed system with a severe limit, since it's essentially "free" game money. Which is also why I feel it won't gain much traction, as it's been stated in the past that 'free' money isn't something that'd would be added willingly.
I wouldn't like it as a "race to complete" with other members type system, I don't think it'd be used very much if that was the case. I do like the idea of a separate quest board for clubs, maybe with higher value quests? It could award the club and the player that completes it with random prizes and special points for the club. Maybe one slot could be a club created quest with a club dictated prize?
We do have quests coming to the game though, testing already started for it a while ago. I think it's just still in the quest ideas stage and actually coding said quests into the game. Pretty sure you're given x number of quests you can do a day but you can request a new one. It's just been pushed back for fixing the game bugs.
