[Sandstar]

Sandstar was not like typical leaders. Most were known to stay in their dens in solitary doing StarClan knows what when they could be enjoying the fresh air and doing something more productive. She didn't understand the point of being a recluse, and while Sandstar was not a particularly friendly she cat, she wasn't a grumpy sour-puss who wanted no social contact.

The tawny leader sat outside of her den, which was a hollowed space in the roots of a large oak tree. It was a cozy den, sure, but stuffy and cramped. Above the trees that formed a ring around the camp, the sunlight just began to peak through the lowermost branches, apparently making it a goal to shine directly in Sandstar's eyes. Stifling an irritated growl at the early dawn light, she settled down into a laying position with her paws tucked neatly into her chest, ears perked forward. Content with the feeling in the air, she closed her eyes and rested, waiting for the clan to begin to stir. Before long Flightflank would be sending out the dawn patrol. It had been moons since either of the two bordering clans tried anything. ThunderClan cats were known to be too mouse-hearted to attack offensively, but RiverClan? They were slimy fish-eaters, and she would never put an invasion passed them. It was only a matter of time before something popped up.

[Snowsong]

Sleeping soundly in the warriors den, Snowsong was splayed on her back, tail twitching every now and then in her sleep. Her mouth was parted just barely, and her paws were tucked up in the air. The fluffy she cat looked to be the epitome of peace as she rested, but her dreams were much the opposite. Often she dreamed of catching the largest bit of prey in the clan, or of being leader. This dream, however, was particularly gruesome and gory. Her clanmates lay dead around her, three claws marks in the same pattern on each of their throats. While the dream meant nothing, it would be sure to startle her once she woke up.

[Lionwhisker]

Parting his jaws in a yawn, Lionwhisker sat up and stretched one leg at a time, making a purposeful display of showing off his muscles despite the fact that nearly everyone in the warriors den was sleep. Swiping his tongue around his muzzle, Lionwhisker trotted out of the den and glanced around. "Oh, 'tis a bountiful day for the most magnificent of warriors to hunt in the forest, so that his mighty comrades may feast upon a dinner most sublime, caught by theirs truly!" He purred out loud to no one specifically. "Surely our most noble and esteemed deputy in all his greatness has listed me upon the most important of hunting patrols!"

[Petalpaw]

Petalpaw was an early bird. She simply loved listening to the little birdies in the morning and watching them flutter about and the sky, oh the sky was so beautiful at this time! How could anyone possibly want to miss it? Not her! Unlike the other apprentices (bless their souls,) she was almost always the first one to wake up. Pantherpaw would complain when she unraveled herself from beside him and disturbed his slumber, but after mumbling something unintelligible he would be back to sleep until sunhigh if he could.

What did Talonheart planned for her today? She just absolutely knew it would be fun! He always had such fun tasks for her! Yesterday, she got lucky enough to be the one to change the queens' bedding!

[Lightstep]

Sides falling slowly, Lightstep lay curled up in his nest. A little ways away was his mentor, Cloverleap, who Lightstep had become quite fond despite the fact that both were grumpy toms, and argued often. Cloverleap's grumpiness was something of an inspiration, and Lightstep figured that when he was that age he would be just the same. Having spent his entire life with a permanent deformity and being forced into a job he did not want did that to a tom. The warriors complained that he wasn't sensitive enough with their wounds. Yeah, well, maybe they should be more careful about acquiring little scrapes and scratches. Honestly, they all acted like kits. Just because they didn't want to see their own blood didn't mean Lightstep wanted to!

[Flightflank]

His russet ears swindled to the sound of a familiarity obnoxious voice as he padded back into camp from the dirt tunnel. "Actually, Lionwhisker, you are going to go with Cloverleaf to gather herbs, he said something about needing someone I don't need, and you're the best at being that one special cat." The Gingrich striped tom snorted as he sat beside Sandstar. "Wouldnt you agree?" He said to the tawny she-cat as he looked down at her.

[Cloverleap]

The dark grey Tom snorted and rolled about in his sleep, only to be awoken by the murmurs of the camp awakening. Great, he thought. The last thing he needed was to be awake before Lightstep. Standing up with a stiff yawn he arched his back in a feeble attempt to wake his muscle before leaving the den. He only caught a snippet of the words being exchanged between Lionwhisker and Flightflank, before he looked over at the prey-pile. Still empty, he shook his head in dismay. "Thats right, I need a warrior to go with me, as ill be venturing over towards Riverclan territory." He nodded at Flightflank's words.

[Brightstorm]

The young she-cat stood up from her somewhat messy, poor excuse for a nest. Watching the large golden tom leave the den, she soon followed. Going to sit near Flightflank to await orders while the rest awoke. She twitched her ear, hearing mewling noises from the nursery. Aww, Swallowkit and Rosekit are growing so fast. I can't wait till I have my own kits! the white and tawny she cat thought as she gazed longingly in the direction of the mews.

[Talonheart]

Snoring somewhat loudly, he jolted awake when he felt a prod in his side, finding the source; the beautiful, but twitching from her dreams, Snowsong. He stood up, nudging the she cat's belly. "Snowsong, bad dreams?" He asked as he tried to wake her. But he soon saw Petalpaw awake, and without giving the white and silver cat a chance to reply he darted from the den to his young apprentice. "Petalpaw, you up for some battle training? I know we haven't done much of it. Ill see if Onyxfall and Sagepaw can join us?" He offered, though he doubted the young apprentice would want to do more than lay around all day.

[Sagepaw]

His dull green gaze swept across the outside of the den. Not seeing his mentor awake, he knew hat Onyxfall wouldn't be up for a while yet. The old tom seemed to always be the last one up to Sagepaw, and so there was always a delay on training or hunting, and the apprentice got stuck with cleaning dens and picking out he elders' ticks. He let himself go back to sleep,a dreamless sleep thankfully.

[Tawnybreeze]

The plump she cat sighed as she rolled over, trying to ignore the feeling from Sparrowkit and Rosekit. She had yet to grow accustomed to it, even though she had been k. The nursery since before the two kits were born. She tried to push the noise away, and call sleep, but she couldn't and so she stood up, stretched lazily, and left the den, gazing around for someone to talk to.

[Lionwhisker]

"Of course you would request that I be the seeker of herbs alongside our most faithful medicine cat, for none other could provide him protection such as myself! I am honored by this request, dear Flightfur, and I will treat this duty with the fullest respect that I can give!" He turned and walked straight over to the medicine den. "Come on now, O' esteemed medicine cat! With the valiant Lionwhisker by your side, no harm will even dare to look our way! On we go, for the herbs require our presence most urgently!"

[Petalpaw]

"Oh battle training! Oh boy, do I!" She purred enthusiastically, tail curling until the tip brushed against her back. "I bet the forest is just absolutely lovely this morning, dontcha think Talonheart? And I bet with you as my mentor, I'll become the greatest warrior ever! Of course, Pantherpaw and Sagepaw and Leopardpaw and Hawkpaw are all going to be pretty good, too! We all have such great mentors!"

[Snowsong]

"Huh....?" Snowsong slowly raised her head, roused from her sleep. Talonheart's retreating form was seen exiting the warriors den and she took it as her cue to rise and shine. Slowly, she padded out of the warriors den and sat down, waiting to see if there were any patrols for her. 'Please don't put me on the dawn patrol!' She begged silently, casting a glance toward Sandstar.

[Sandstar]

"Insults are useless against that one, Flightflank. Have you picked out who will be going on the dawn patrol? If you wait any longer, it'll be sunhigh by the time they return, and we still need hunting patrols to be sent out." Sandstar replied, sitting up and curling her tail neatly around her paws.

[Onyxfall]

"Sorry Talonheart," The tom had appeared beside the mentioned warrior having risen from his nest as the rest of the warriors began to wake, "Sagepaw needs to work on her hunting before we continue on with her battle skills. Her kills are still sloppy. That is, if she ever wakes up before sunhigh. Sometimes I envy you for having an apprentice who's up before the birds, but then I remember how irritating that could be." He let out a light-hearted purr of amusement before heading toward the apprentice's den. "Sagepaw? C'mon!"

[Flightflank]

He nodded to Sandstar. "I suppose so." He said, before gazing around the camp. "Hmm...Brightstorm, Snowsong, Rattooth!" He mewed loudly, seeing all three awake. "And Leopardpaw can go with you as well." He nodded before turning back to Sandstar. "Do you smell that?" He said as the scent of thunderpath hit his nose abruptly.

[Cloverleap]

The old tom growled at the younger golden one. "Shut up and get moving." He said curtly before stalking stiffly from the camp into the pine and oak forest. "Ready to go swimming?" He sneered, knowing they would have to cross the river, and the couple of stones belonged to Riverclan.

[Brightstorm]

She perked her ears, hearing her name called. Dragging her attention from the nursery to Flightflank, then to Snowsong, Rattooth, and Leopardpaw. She hated dawn patrol, she much rather hunt than mark borders.

[Talonheart]

The brown Tom nodded to Onyxfall. "Alright, well when yup are finished, feel free to join us." He said, flicking Petalpaw with his tail gently to remind her she didn't need to constantly talk. "So I was thinking you should work on her offense moves for the time being, after all, Thunderclan doesn't expect us to fight back when they have trees, and Riverclan is constantly defending the stones and river.

[Sagepaw]

She let out a droning groan as she stood up, stretching hesitantly, before rushing out of the den. "I wouldn't have to sleep all day if I wasn't rushing around doing all he apprentice chores the day before!" She snapped groggy as she padded out. "And didn't have a mentor who did the same..." she mumbled to herself.

[Tawnybreeze]

Seeing Onyxfall awake she bound over clumsily. "Oynxfall! Did you sleep well?" She purred, but kept her space, knowing how toms often felt if she, being pregnant without a mate and all, didn't stay a good distance away.

[Sandstar]

"I smell many things, Flightflank, you'll have to be more specific." Sandstar flicked an ear back in irritation, keeping her gaze straight ahead. She didn't scent anything out of the ordinary that morning- a little bit of the remaining due, various scents of stale prey, the berries that grew on the bushes that created a wall around the camp. What, StarClan tell, did he mean by 'that?'

[Lionwhisker]

"Fear not, wise Cloudleaf, for I will be more than inclined to help your frail paws cross a river. You need not shroud your fear with anger, o' might medicine cat, for I will tell none other of your secret fear of water. In me, you can trust with the most guarded of secrets!" Lionwhisker announced, tail swaying from side to side behind him.

[Snowsong]

An audible growl rose in Snowsong's throat and she debated faking an illness to get out of patrolling. It wouldn't be the first time, but at least if Brightstorm was there they could complain together about being stuck on the patrol. She padded over to the other she cat, assuming she was leading since Flightflank had called out her name first. Or perhaps they would go by seniority. Oh, who cared who led? Once Rat-tail had padded over with his apprentice, she exited camp, tail lashing irritably.

[Petalpaw]

"Oh, you should just see how well my Leap-and-Hold is coming along! Pantherpaw has been helping me practice, and it's getting *so* much better! I even managed to pin him, and he's a huge lump of purr!" She purred at her own comment, imagining her bushy-furred brother. "And he even showed me a move his mentor taught him called the Underbelly Slash. Do you know that one?"

[Onyxfall]

"Oh, forgive me for giving you normal apprentice tasks." Onyxfall replied dryly, tail flicking contemptuously. "I'll remember not to expect so much from you in the future. Forgive me if I overestimated your ambition and competence, although perhaps you'd like to stay in camp for the next few days so you can become more efficient at those skills?" He suggested, standing before Sagepaw and staring her down with a hard look.

He turned suddenly when Tawnybreeze's voice caught his attention and nodded politely to the she cat, adding a small purr to his voice. "Well enough that I slept later than usual. Normally I wake up when Flightflank does since he has to walk right by my nest to get out of the warrior's den, but he must have tip-toed this morning. And are you feeling well, Tawnybreeze? How long is it before your kits are due?"

[Flightflank]

He rolled his eyes. "By that, I mean it smells like twolegs, and the thunderpath." The russet tabby lashed his tail at her ignorance. "Oh forget it. Probably just one of those really big monsters that carry a lot of twoleg kits." He said as he laid his tail back over his paws.

[Cloverleap]

He turned, unsheathing his claws and holding his paw only a whisker-length from Lionwhisker's cheek. "I have no fears. I have seen more than you could ever imagine, experienced more pain in one moment then you ever while your entire life. I am not frail, I could take any of you pesky warriors." He growled, before returning to walk to the river.

[Brightstorm]

She padded after Snowsong, once out of earshot of the camp she nudged her friend's shoulder. "Hey, is it just me or has Talonheart been eyeing you like Tawnybreeze does when she is mooning over Oynxstep?" She said teasingly, though it was out of good nature. "But seriously, you should really consider taking up a mate, and soon. Beauty only lasts so long." She said in a more serious tone.

[Talonheart]

"Yes I know that one. And even if you can take your brother, you need better training. He can be as soft as a kitty-pet sometimes. Hardly a worthy opponent to any Shadowclan cat," he warned jokingly, though it was true, at least somewhat. "Well, come on. Ill let you try to ambush me as if I were a Thunderclan warrior." He said, heading out of camp, but paused every once and a while for her to catch up.

[Sagepaw]

She returned her mentor's glare, growling. "Why I ou-" she was cut off by the purrs of Tawnybreeze and Oynxfall. "Uck, love birds." She said as she sat down, beginning to groom herself. There was no point in wasting time just standing when Oynxfall would probably take forever to finish talking to the queen.

[Tawnybreeze]

The creamy she cat let a purr escape her throat. "Well, until Sparrowkit and Rosekit woke up, very well actually. And only a couple more moons, I'm so excited. I just hope they have a father by then." She said, her voice going from happy to upset almost instantly as she spoke of having no mate. She knew it was looked down upon to have kits with no father. And how her kits would be treated, and co conspiracies about their father, and her being viewed as a traitor in worse cases.

[Sandstar]

"Honestly, Flightflank, you act as if it's the first time we've ever been able to scent them from our territory. Anyone would think you're a worrisome apprentice talking like that, but if you're so paranoid about it, why don't you go investigate?" Sandstar suggested dryly, tail tip twitching. "Unless you're afraid of them."

[Lionwhisker]

A hearty laugh erupted from Lionwhisker's mouth. "I do envy the spirit of you elders. Such energy for ones of such age! Truly, you are an inspiration, mighty Cloudleaf! To spare your fragile feelings, I will agree with you. Of course you wouldn't want to show any weakness in front of the greatest warrior who has ever lived. Lucky for you, I am a merciful tom who never lets his talent get to his head. Oh wondrous elder, do lead on, for adventure seeks us! Do not be afraid to request a rest, I know how quickly you older ones get tired." He added a wink before speeding up, tail waving happily in the air.

[Snowsong]

A light purr rumbled in Snowsong's chest. "Talonheart? I haven't noticed. And if I ever do get a mate, I certainly hope it wouldn't just be because of my appearance. What about you, though? Have your eye on any toms? I'm sure toms would be lining up to fight for your attention, Brightstorm."

[Petalpaw]

"Okay!" Petalpaw chirped, scampering to the opposite end of the small clearing from Talonheart, crouching down and eyeing. Without hesitating, she shot forward and darted to his right side, hooking one paw around his foreleg while using the other to push down on his side.

[Lionwhisker]

"A couple moons? I'm no medicine cats, but I'm fairly certain a queen is only expecting for two moons, maybe with a few extra days thrown in there. Did you perhaps mean weeks? Well, no matter, I'm sure they'll be a blessing to the clan. You know ShadowClan will treat them well, and the past queens will be there to help you raise them, father or not. Forgive me, now, but Sagepaw and I have to get going if we want to be back in camp before sunhigh. Training calls." He glanced toward his apprentice and flicked her lightly over the head. "We're going to work on your hunting, so where would you like to go?"

(Hey, is it autocorrect, or is Lionwhisker actually getting his name wrong several times? And I know you meant Oynxfall, but you put Lionwhisker for his name instead, XD)

(XD I did mean Onyxfall, and yes, Lionwhisker gets names confused very often, though no one is sure if it's intentional or not. I mentioned that in his sign up, but it was at the very bottom in the extra notes portion. ;) )

[Flightflank]

Snorting he stood up. "Fine. I will." He growled, stalking from the camp towards the thunderpath. Stumbling from the horribly strong stretch, he tripped over some twoleg clutter as he looked over. A large monster was tearing down heir oak trees, and twolegs huddled around watching. He turned, racing back to camp with a yowl. Making back into camp, he tried to explain through his heavy breaths. "Two legs...destroy....monsters..." he was able to manage out, so come over with shock he was swaying on.his paws.

[Cloverleap]

He had had enough of this arrogant warrior. Raising his paw, he unsheathed his claws and swiped across the golden tom's cheek. Drawing blood as he did so. "You are the least intelligent warrior to ever live. My name is Cloverleap, Lionwhisker, you are nothing but a mouse-brained overgrown kit. Go back to camp, and speak like a normal cat for once." The grey Tom snarled, very stalking away.


[Brightstorm]

She giggled as she nodded to the white she cat. "Well yes, but still." She said, before cringing at her next sentence. "Well...not really. I thought I liked Lionwhisker, but he changed. And no one wants a young she cTrl barley out of apprenticeship anyway." She said with a sad shrug.

[Talonheart]

His balance was listed only for a second, before he gathered himself back up and stood up on his hind legs, rapping his tail around one of them, before gently bringing his paws down on her back, but with enough force to signal to her that in a real battle, she would've made a fatal mistake; going instantly for the legs, not a soft spot like underbelly or throat. Her even the muzzle.

[Sagepaw]

The tortoiseshell and white apprentice snorted. "Look, she's just as mouse-brained as Lionwhisker! Hey, maybe he's the one who fathered her kits, well now we know not to expect much from them!" She called mass she giggled at her mocking of the pretty queen as she excited camp, waiting on Oynxfall.

[Tawnybreeze]

"Oh I've lost track of so much time! I did mean weeks, only another one o-" she was cut off by the hysterical mockery of Sagepaw. Pinning her ears in embarrassment, she walked away, tail dragging in shame.
