[ADDED] Lesson Horse

This is just an idea that popped into my head...

Since showing doesn't bring in much money, what if you could give your horse a job to do? What if you could enter a horse in a "Riding Stable" for the day, and it could earn a bit of money? The horse would be "tired" and you wouldn't be able to show it that day, but perhaps there could be a very small chance to earn a few stats from the lesson.

Pros:
More money for you
A use for geldings, or other horses you don't intend to breed

Cons:
There would have to be a limit on how many horses a player could enter per day, so they didn't farm cash with a whole herd of horses. Maybe 1-3?
More coding.
Anything else?

I think this could be pretty cool as another addition to stables. Maybe each stable could have a certain number of slots for riding horses per day, and/or a horse has to be boarded at that stable in order to be a riding horse. The stable could earn a cut of the profits from each lesson.

Though it wouldn't make sense realistically, what if only geldings could be used as riding horses? That'd give them a bigger use, although it would cut back quite a bit, probably too much, on the number of horses able to be used for riding lessons. On the other hand, maybe it would encourage people to geld their horses, leading to a decrease of lower-statted horses. Of course, that could also lead to players creating store horses and gelding them, although I suppose that's not such a big problem - it'd still be a money sink for those players to buy the horse and geld it. However, it might be difficult to balance the earnings vs the cost of buying a store horse/gelding it.

Alternatively, or with the previous suggestion, perhaps horses would need a certain amount of stats to be used as lesson horses, or go through a kind of training (maybe the special foal training Abbey is working on, or a certain number of adult training sessions. That'd probably make more sense than adding a new kind of training. Adding a different kind of training would probably just confuse everyone.)

Perhaps we could at least exclude stallions from lessons? They aren't usually used for riding lessons in real life...

Interesting ideas Syrien! I do like the idea of training lesson horses. It adds a bit more realism. Maybe the more training it had, the more it earned?

I think that Misty's idea would be really good. so like the horse has to have a certain age and level to be entered and maybe only geldings???

I like all the ideas except restricting this to geldings. I would be fine with stallions not being able to be lesson horses though.

Now that i think about it Valzed that is a good idea.. i mean if stallions were not used for lesson horses since they usually aren't. :) good thinking
