Any way to remove Clyde Sabino?

#183849 Posted on 2018-08-11 16:27:28

Is there any way to remove the sabino in clydes? I tried a marking randomizer, in the hopes of at least getting rid of the SbSb and getting just a single Sb, but it says no markings available for the breed. Would a marking applicator work? Or is that only to add them? Is the marking randomizer just bugging? I've never tried getting rid of the clyde sabino, but figured it was worth a shot for once!

The marking applicator won't remove it, because it gives dominant homozygous genes, so you'd just get stuck with SbSb again. The only way to get rid of the sabino in Clydes at this point is by breeding it out, which is slow.

The randomizer doesn't work because it randomizes across marking types, not across hetero/homozygous genes, so since there's no other marking to switch sabino out with, it does nothing.

Dang. Oh well! I appreciate the information :) Hopefully one day I'll get it mostly bred out

Are they planning to fix the sabino anytime soon? I really miss solid cyldes in the horse center.

I'm afraid I don't know if the commonality of sabino in store clydes will change - that kind code tweak isn't something I help decide on.

I absolutely hate te Sb in clydesdales. It's so unrealistic and destroys the otherwise gorgeous breed art.
It used to be rare to get an Sbsb clydesdale from the EC and SbSb was something players actually bred for. Now it's impossible to get an sbsb from the EV. At first I thought it was just a bug but we've been stuck with flashy white clydes for ages.

It's not a bug- I'm pretty sure Abbey said it was intentional that Clydes would always be sabino in the EC when it was reported on the bug board but alas can't double check that.

I can't find that topic either, but that does sound familiar.

I know it wouldn't fix the number of sabino clydes coming out of the store, but one possibility would be adding DNA tweak for sabino. There aren't any other tweaks for KIT genes though, so that would be a new precedent. Another possibility would be a marking remover item that might selectively remove one marking at a time, which might be more universally useful and be less of a clydes-only kind of fix.

^^ i posted a suggestion as a starter point for something of that sort here, i agree the sabino on the clydes really turns me off from them, but i do love the way the breed itself looks so i still breed them. it is however very unrealistic the way it is portrayed through the art.

Also I like how on another topic the Silver gene is to be tweaked in the future (probably far off distant future! but still) to make it more real but not a word on the Clyde situation. But then I guess Clyde breeders haven't complained as much as silver breeders idk.

I'm sorry this hasn't been addressed yet - I wish I could fix it for you, but sadly I can't. I will do my best and make sure to pass on all of your concerns.

The silver topic is because it's an inaccurate depiction of how silver works in real life hence why it has been answered. The sabino art is still realistic of sabino, and does happen in real Clydesdales, but is less common than the typical Clyde look that has been selected for in breeding. So it doesn't necessarily need to change, even though it's not really desired (I was disappointed the Sb+ wasn't a typical Clyde sabino myself) but the rare chance of a solid from EC would be nice.

I think it's a pity that sabino should be removed just because it bothers some players. As mentioned above, many Clyde breeders seem to love it when it is bred so much. Who does not like the Sabino, can breed it out, as already written above.

As for as I know it doesn't bother "some" players, it bothers a lot of dedicated clydesdale breeders. We don't want to breed for sabino, most breeders that discussed the sb in clydesdales want to breed solids. Breeding it out is a long process. Like I said, to me the sb clydes look completely unnatural, especially the SbSb clydes.
Sabino is common in real life clydesdales, but it doesn't present itself as an almost solid white horse with some weirds spots of color.

I would love to see a more realistic looking sabino, and a better balance of Sb and sb clydesdales from the EC instead of 100% sabinos.

We can even get solid gypsy vanners from the EC, why no solid clydesdales?
