Conformation and good show horse

#181097 Posted on 2018-07-28 07:38:55

Hi,

I've got 2 questions

- What does conformation have to do with shows and the quality of the horse?

- How can I see if a horse is a good show horse or not?

Conformation doesn't impact on shows in any way, it's just something to breed for if you want.

A horse that will be decent at showing would have under 65/70 non-speciality stats (basically foundation level or under), though the lower the better. You want as many stats as you can to be concentrated into your speciality stats. For example; Sea Dreamer is specialised in Dressage and has 328 specialiy stats (AGI/INT). His non-speciality stats (STR/SPD/END) add up to 58 meaning he will usually outcompete a 60 non-spec horse of the same level/stats.

Other factors in showing include training level of the horse, a horse with a higher training level might beat a horse with a lower training level and higher stats. Overall stats can also influence results, particularly if your horse is close to moving to the next grade, some players only show their horse then. Having fully upgraded tack also improves show scores as it adds non-permanent stats to your show score, 5/5 tack will beat 1/5 tack most of the time.

Thank you for this great explanation!
And how can you get lower non-speciality stats with the help of breeding?

It's not possible to get lower than foundation level non-spec stats without using a pre-recode horse/bloodline that still has low stats. To breed stats down you need to pair higher stats to lower stats (I usually pair non-showable horses with foundations for a quicker result without mixing old bloodlines). It may also be possible to breed lower than foundation stats by breeding odd numbers together (eg 19 x 19) and potentially getting a lower number but there's not been many cases of it.
