what happens at summer camp... ...stays at summer camp typical summer camp RP, with a few twists along the way. (that will be explained in sign ups) Camp Lavender is located in the beautiful bit of country known as Lavender Hill, a quiet but large part of the landscape that for years has been the site of one of the most well-known summer camps. About 15 minutes drive and 30-45 minutes walk from the large town of Lavender Hill, which can only be described as a near perfect example of suburbia, the kids of the rich, famous and anyone in between seem to attend Camp Lavender over summer. The flat plains, the sprawling forest on the hills, the large, safe, artificial Lake Elemere The legend of the secret Lavender Hill Lake is one that seems to enthral all campers, with the goal of finding where the secret lake is located. The lake itself is said to be beautiful, in the middle of the small forrest and surrounded by lavender and bluebells, and apparently home to some magical properties. Camp Lavender provides everything, a large and luxurious common and rec room for campers, swimming, boating and canoeing, archery, pottery, the large library, a restaurant for all meals overseen by a renowned chef, luxurious cabins, rec rooms for camp counsellors only, an indoor swimming pool, a camp counsellors only spa and state of the art gym, and most importantly, it has outstanding equestrian facilities. That, however, does not explain some of the odd goings on at Camp Lavender over the last few years. An old local legend says the land is enchanted, and recent incidents make this look more and more possible. After three adventurous campers tried to sneak out at night to find the secret Lavender Hill Lake, they reported finding themselves walking in circles, every time they tried to walk forward into the wood they somehow ended up walking back out, no matter which way they turned. A camp counsellor who apparently found the lake was never able to find it again, having spotted it on her day off when out looking at friends, and as soon as she had brought them over, the lake seemed to have disappeared. It's often reported that a sweet singing and giggling can be heard, and sometimes a glowing mist is amongst the lavender, as if fairies or sprites or some other small magical creature has been playing in the lavender by the lake, A trail ride had got lost, and found a track the camp counsellor leading thought was the right track, and instead lead her to near the lake. Realising she had taken the wrong track, all the horses refused to turn around and away, and instead insisted on walking through the lake, drinking the water and eating the long grass. The counsellor and the campers came back from the trail ride speaking of the great beauty and how odd the horses behaved, and many campers who had ended up at the lake found they seemed to be able to enchant little things, and their arts and crafts projects danced and came to life, but that it wore off after a day or two. The horses themselves came back so calm, and to everyone's surprise, the camp counsellors horse, a chestnut gelding known as Xavier, who was a 'project' horse known for his temper and who they had been trying and struggling to put weight on too, seemed to fill out within the week, and since then there was no issues with either his temper or his weight. Many other camp counsellors say it's a myth, and have visited the lake many times and experienced none of these things. Other camp counsellors say the lake is a beautiful, romantic, fun spot and the campers are kept hidden and they keep the mystery of it to stop them finding their own little private spot away from the main camp life itself. Rather than playing a camper, you play a camp counsellor camp counsellors are aged between 18-24 years old campers are aged between 8-16 years old each camp counsellor is in charge of a cabin of 6 children bed time for the campers is 9.30pm, with lights out at 10pm, except on nights where there's an organised event (like a dance, or quiz night etc) counsellors are expected to be in the cabins until lights out, but after lights out are allowed to do as they please, as long as they keep their camp phones on them so campers can contact them and they check in on their campers every half hour. whilst the guidelines are that camp counsellors are asleep by 12am, and due to the recent strange events, management staff are being a bit stricter and seem be doing checks to make sure all camp counsellors are in their own beds by 12am, many counsellors still sneak out until the early hours of the morning. camp counsellors also get at least one night and one day off a week. each camp counsellor builds friendships with the others, and with the added mystery and more strange incidents happening, its a question of whether you believe in magic, or think of it as nothing more than silly stories. rules keep genders roughly even we don't play as campers - they can have names and actions but they're background characters no killing off your campers (lol) i will assign you a cabin name/number and the gender and age of your six campers, as well as their experience levels as a camp counsellor, you can decide the activities for your campers as a camp counsellor, some days you may also find yourself asking to swap activities, because you were out too late and need to cover that up ;) other times, you may have a few novice campers whilst the rest are advanced/intermediate, and need to ask if your novice campers can join another activity (or vice versa) camp counsellors must arrange 2 activities for their cabin each day, one in the morning, one in the afternoon - campers have their own recreational time and group participation activities during the day which allows camp counsellors to do their other jobs. The activities that can be chosen from each day are : trail riding (english or western - counsellor leading) - choice of 1, 2 or 3 hour trails horse care and ground work (counsellor teaching) flat riding lessons (english or western - with counsellor teaching) - novice riders and more advanced riders are taught together on the flat jumping riding lessons (english - counsellor teaching) - novice riders and advanced/intermediate riders are split. two cabins must be having a jumping lesson at the same time so they can be split into novice and advanced/intermediate groups with two counsellors mounted games - novice and advanced/intermediate riders again split. swimming - novice and advanced/intermediate swimmers are split. like with jumping lessons, two cabins must be swimming at the same time so they can be split into novice and advanced/intermediate groups with two counsellors rowing/boating canoeing pottery and clay work hiking archery sports like soccer, rugby (tag/7s), field hockey etc. camp counsellors also have other duties, such as exercising the horses each day and caring for them. in their free time, camp counsellors are allowed to use all the facilities to practice their skills and prep their lessons if they wish, or they can use the camp counsellors only rec room or spa. a camp counsellor is on free time after they've performed their morning activity, and the campers are on their rec or group participation time, and before and after their afternoon activity when the campers are on their lunch, red or group participation time. my characters Leo Connolly 19. standing at about 6"2, he has a typical Spanish complexion due to his Spanish mother, along with green Irish eyes, light brown hair and the square Irish jaw due to his father from County Cork in Ireland. He speaks with a slight Irish accent, having lived in County Dublin until he was seven. He is muscular, but also lean, being a talented sportsman. He took a year out after he finished high school to rehab a sports injury, being a very talented swimmer, and is using camp as a way to get back into swimming before he starts college. In addition to swimming, Leo also rides and plays rugby. He seems to be relatively short on both patience, as well as sympathy at times, however the kids all seem to like him as he doesn't appear to baby them and treats them as adults, which as a result means they seem to respect him. Amongst the other counsellors he seems to swing either hot or cold, being both the life of the party but also quick to freeze people out. A sceptic when it comes to the magic of Lavender Hill Lake, having already visited the lake several times since he arrived, he spends most nights at the lake with the other camp counsellors partying or relaxing or doing whatever the night seems to want to do, and his free time during the day is either spent swimming, exercising and caring for the horses, or in the spa. Tomasina 'Tom' Beaumont-Lutz 18. from a rich equestrian family, Tom has previously been a camper at Camp Lavender when she was younger. Having had a successful eventing season, an injury to her top horse and her mother's annoyance at her new couch potato behaviour has seen her decide to take a job at Camp Lavender instead. Slightly spoilt, Tom is mid height at about 5"5, with an athletic yet slim build, dark blue eyes and a small but round mouth and honey blonde hair that's half way down her back. Always dressed in pristine designer clothing, despite her snobbish appearance she's a very warm and well mannered young lady. She finds it hard to manage her campers as a result, especially some of the older girls who seem to think of her as a snob due to her appearance, and the older girls who ride or have an interest in riding seem to be spreading rumours that she can only ride her families horses as someone else trains them for her, however she is determined to prove this isn't true, however the younger girls adore her and her pony stories. She spends her free time in the spa or gym, exercising the horses and doing a bit of archery, a new skill that she's taken up and is really enjoying. A romantic at heart, she finds the idea of the secret Lavender Hill Lake enchanting, although has spent her first few nights following the rules, or guidelines, and has yet to be invited to party with the other camp counsellors to visit the lake, despite trying to make a few new friendships.
