What to do Now?

#176282 Posted on 2018-06-26 11:51:43

I joined Equiverse in April and I was very exited to be focused on breeding for decent stats and for showing. My show horses were all placing extremely well in shows for the longest time, until the updates in May and ever since then every single one of my horses have been placing lower than tenth place. This has been extremely frustrating for me because I spent a lot of money on some of my horses, training, and show entry fees only to get nothing in return. Lately I've been thinking of just breeding for conformation, but what would the reward from that be? I don't know, I love breeding for competitions in other games, but I'm not sure what to do here. Should I try breeding for something else, or leave for a while? I'd like to hear some opinions on what I should do, thank you.

having gone through your horses, it looks like most of them aren’t equipped with tack, and those that are equipped don’t have fully upgraded tack. Since tack adds on a significant amount of stats when it comes to determining show placings, Im guessing that is your only real issue. Equip them with fully-upgraded and you should be back to winning an even amount of shows :)

Never give up! It gets better, I promise. It'll also get easier. Persevere! You got this!

Thank you! I fully upgraded the tack of my show horses yesterday and entered them in ten shows each and while it was little, I did seem to make a profit from showing this time around! I hope that this will work and I can start feeling more confident about showing again!

Oh boy, So it's been a few months since I originally posted this, and while at first my horses were doing a bit better with the fully upgraded tack, their results began to plummet back down again and I just stopped showing for a while. I entered two horses in shows today to see if I should start showing them again, but I highly doubt they will place decently. If I choose to completely give up on showing, I'm thinking of just breeding for conformation from now on to give me something to do. That being said, does anyone have tips for conformation breeding or how to get my horses to show better? Back when I actively showed my horses, I would train, treat, and care for them everyday and have their tack fully upgraded. I try to breed my mare to stallions with good stats, but that either results in the dumb inbreeding block or my foals are born with high stats and end up not placing well or not at all in Nationals. Sorry, this kind of turned into a rant.

@Hidden Shadow,
I *totally* feel your frustration with the new show system tweak. My horses used to do fairly well. After the show system was updated a while ago (springtime, wasn't it?), they ALL began to plummet. With upgraded stats. With foundation level non specs. At the top of their divisions. They STILL showed poorly just as it sounds as your ponies are.

At least you are sticking around to play the game. Since the... terrible tweak to the showing system, I have sold all of my horses and simply lurk around when I have time. It is really sad that a game that pushes showing horses so much has *such* an awful showing system for them.

I wish you the best with your conformation breeding projects. There is a discussion HERE about breeding for conformation that may be of interest to you.  :)

You can also try breeding just for high stats and nice coat colours. Breeding  for conformation is unfortunately tricky and a long term goal, but can be done in the same time as standard stat or colour breeding (who said a high confo horses cannot be strong and lovely?).

Thank you for the well wishes! And it honestly surprises me that with so many people hating and suffering from the new and greatly flawed showing system, you would think that it would be scrapped and they would bring back the old one, or create an even better showing system. I've honestly thought about quitting so many times, since the whole reason I play horse sims is to breed horses for showing, and if I can't even do that, then why am I still here? I just joined Equiverse in April and when I started out I was in love and had so much fun, but now it looks like showing won't be an option until, or if, it is ever fixed. I don't feel like I'm achieving anything or making any progress. Like I said, I want to try to breed for conformation in order to keep me interested in the game, so I hope that lasts.

As for sikora, I will have to settle for the slightly lower of the higher stats since so many high stat horses are all related to each other, which is a huge headache for me since I have no problem with a little bit of inbreeding and this game blocks it, making it so much harder for me to breed decent horses. But even when I do manage to breed a high-stated horse, they win for a while, but then just stop when they reach Nationals, which isn't hard to get to with a horse with high stats, making their careers short. If that's the case, then why does breeding for stats even matter? As for colors, that is one of the things I love about breeding. There are so many beautiful colors and markings in the game, so that is one of the positive things that makes me want to stay. If I stick with my conformation plan, I could also try to work in breeding for nice or rarer colors as well, I never considered that, so thank you for bringing that up!

I have no troubles with showing horses. I always make a decent profit and sometimes when I show less I spend 19k showing and bring back in like 33k. When I go all out and spend $70k showing I bring in closer to $120-150k depending on the day.  The only thing I do is make sure to show horses when they are within 10 stats of moving up to the next grade. Once they are much higher graded though, R5-Na1+ I show within 60-80 of moving up and still my horses place and do well. They of course have all upgraded tack, are no more than 65 non specialty stats....other than that I do nothing special. I do not hand pick shows, I use the auto show. I was completely unaware that others were still experiencing issues with showing.

On a side note - I have considered switching to color/conformation breeding just because of the stupid tack bug where I was losing soo much upgraded tack every single day. I didn't but I really really really thought about it. I also stopped showing the horses that were most frequently experiencing the tack bug and just have them sitting off to the side locked.

oi’m also curious what issues people are having with showing. to my understanding the bug was fixed several months ago, and my showing results have returned to pre-bug expectations.

could you provide some examples of show results that point to a continued bug in the system?

Oh boy, I haven't been showing for so long that I had no idea there was now a tack bug. Do you have any tips for showing to get me started again? I thought I was doing it right, but I guess I still have a lot to learn!

And it could be possible that the bug was fixed. The two horses that I entered in shows yesterday had decent results and at least won me back almost twice of what I spent on entry fees, so that's a hopeful start. As for examples, I have four horses that started failing shows around the time of the formula change I believe.

Once again, any showing or breeding tips would be greatly appreciated.

I got bored of showing and breeding super fast so I decided to start 4 breeds from scratch all foundation and see how long it takes to get some nice horses and to bring new lines to the game as I noted; especially Appaloosas that it is all the same horses in the top pedigrees.
