I read Genetics in Help, I searched horses with silver gene as well and it's rasping me a bit :D
This is a mistake. Silver gene works only on black color, usually it lightens up whole manes and tails. In other cases if mane and tale are not lighten up whole, they have darker roots but not endings like it is shown on graphics I saw here. There are not "silvery accents" and for sure not "sometimes" :) In silver black horses the body hair may be dark gray or dark brown and brown-gray colored. In silver bay horses it lightens up legs as well, makes them chocolate or brown-grey colored. The dappled effect is more or less true, but it's rarely shown on adult horses. If it is, it's shown mostly on silver black ones. I think it should be revised :) If you're not supporting, please write why. Last edited on 2018-05-29 at 12:33:53 by Raven's Dale Meadows

This is a known issue, although it's not clear if it will be fixed, or if it will even be soon. Art changes usually take a while. There are some interesting discussions on the topic here and here.
