Should I get another breed or not

#170435 Posted on 2018-05-14 06:37:07

I almost have my mustang herd where I want them and am still working on my gypsies and lippis. Thanks to Intro to Horse Judging class I took, I have fallen for Morgan's is this a good time to pick up a fourth breed? Also what are good disciplines for Morgan's?

Western and Driving are the two most popular disciplines; SJ is a close 2nd. 😊

In fact, I can help you get started. Just bred a lovely Morgan filly perfect for Western. Can just give her to yah.....

Statistics page

Morgan's are most commonly in Western, but I bred mine in Driving when I bred them.Β

I think you should totally go for it! If I hadn't started new breeds I wouldn't even have Gyspy's *gasps*

(Oops I posted at the same time as Feathered :o)

I have a lovely start with some Western Morgans. I think they are just such a great breed and the art for the game is nice too!Β

I think you should for sure take up Morgans!Β

Morgans I think can be base bay, chestnut, black with dun as an option and creams.Β

Oh also I will be selling 2 foals in 2 days when I breed 2 of my foundation pairs for the last time.Β

I breed racing morgans (I think I'm one of the few people who does so, but I like having one breed in a non-typical discipline for the breed).Β

As olypmea said morgans come with bay, black, or chestnut bases and can have cream or dun dilutions.Β

So:
Black (EE/Ee + aa)
Bay (EE/Ee + AA/Aa)
Chesnut (ee + AA/Aa/aa)
Smoky Black, Smoky Cream (Black + Crcr, Black + CrCr)
Buckskin, Perlino (Bay + Crcr, Bay + CrCr)
Palomino, Cremello (Chestnut + Crcr, Chestnut + CrCr)
Grullo (Black + DD/Dd)
Classic Dun (Bay + DD/Dd)
Red Dun (Chestnut + DD/Dd)
Smoky Black Dun, Smoky Cream Dun, (Black + Crcr + DD/Dd, Black + CrCr DD/Dd)
Dunskin, Perlino Dun (Bay + Crcr + DD/Dd, Bay + CrCr + DD/Dd)
Dunalino, Cremello Dun (Chestnut + Crcr + DD/Dd, Chestnut + CrCr + DD/Dd)

oh, and they can have flaxen and silver. silver only shows on horses with extension (EE/Ee) and flaxen only shows on horses when the horse doesn't have extension (ee) and it has both recessive genes (ff).Β
