dad-isona contest [over 2mil in prizes!]

so, later this year will mark the  

five-year anniversary of my father's passing.  

i've wanted a character to represent him for years  

and i've never been able to find the funds or time to find one 

i thought of commissioning a special artist  

but i first want to try to see what the community as a whole has to offer.  

this is a very important subject for me  

please, please, no messing or joking around  

only give me your best, no matter how long it takes  

i will only accept the best for the man my father was 

understood? good.  

let's start off with some ground rules: 

1. the character has to be male, has to be named 'Jerry'  

2. no neon/unnatural colors 

2b. unless used sparingly for add-ons  

3. no arguing, dissing, being rude, etc.  

4. already stated above but please give me your best work

you have more than enough time to perfect entries!  

feel no need to rush!  

*could end earlier if i fall in love with an entry  

design concepts accepted:  

- muted base colors (bay, black preferred)  

- minimal markings overall 

- really don't want paint markings  

- will accept very minimal appaloosa markings  

THE ONE MUST: 

this is the one element you have to add or you will be disqualified!  

after my dad passed, I found his very old solid gold wrist-watch.  

had it resized and the battery re-done.  

I haven't taken it off since (except for showers and to sleep)  

it is very important to my memory of him!  

i always wear it on my left wrist (i'm left-handed so)

the character you design MUST include this watch in some fashion!  

personality traits (use these for add-ons, design inspiration):  

- gray hair, once was brunette when he was young  

- very fiery personality when he was young  

- he adopted both his first son and I  

- valued education; number one priority was good education  

- could be very impatient with people who wouldn't think for themselves  

- spent his life working with insurance agencies and statistics  

- was an actuary by trade (look it up if you don't know it)  

- read the newspaper every single day of his life  

- watched the nightly news with me every night (we'd sit in a giant armchair and snuggle together)  

- admired Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams (legendary NBC news anchors/reporters)  

- tucked me in and said he loved me every night, without fail  

- his hugs were the greatest, most comforting thing in the world  

- he raised his son all by himself; put him through medical school  

- I would always sit on his lap as a kid when he read me the Sunday comics or books  

- worked with the medical units in WWII (almost never talked about it)  

- suffered from severe COPD for the last decades of his life  

- was always hooked up to an oxygen tank (large one in the house, small portables on the go)  

- he was 76 on the night he passed away
