This suggestion has been marked as "Added To The Game". Thank you, Confessor, for the suggestion and to those of you who supported for making Equiverse better!

There's been talk recently about frustrations stemming from White being listed as a color on the horses' pages, but needing Marking items to remove.

I personally see good reason for White to be listed as a color on the horse, because if you saw that horse in real life, you would say it was a white horse.  You would not know if it was bay or chestnut or gold champagne without a genetics test.  I think the horse color should always be listed as how the horse appears to the observer without the use of genetic testing.

However, I recognize that this raises a great deal of confusion for someone who wants to use a credit item to remove White from their horse.  So I am suggesting that items be clearly labelled with what they do or do not affect, particularly when it comes to White.  Credits are expensive, and it is legitimately frustrating to end up spending some on the wrong item when a quick description could have made things clear.

I support this, but.... if you were to get an all white paint horse (instead of lets say, SpSp) then wouldn't it be a carrier and/or reciever of the lethal white syndrome (OLWS)? Foals born with that are always put down because they die after a few days due to "colic like symptoms" - which is actually just them being born with a non functioning colon. So maybe we could remove white as a colour from paints?
(Also don't mind me rambling on about stuff like this haha i just love genetics)

TG - I think the game doesn't let lethal white occur.

I don't know how to describe it but I hope that makes sense! (Osmeone will come along and describe it better I'm sure hehe)

Lethal White is actually homozygous frame overo.  And the game does not allow that to happen, though I have played horse sim games that have.  The farm where I took riding lessons as a child had a foal born with Lethal White.  They did not describe it by name to me, but looking back, I'm pretty positive that is what happened, as it it was a pure white foal with intestinal issues that had to be put down, and the dam was a beautiful piebald mare.  I wasn't as aware of pinto patterns back then, so I can't say if the mare was frame overo or not from memory, but it must have been, and so must have been the sire, though I didn't know him.

There are actually multiple forms of Dominant White.  There is a question whether at least some forms of homozygous Dominant White might produce nonviable embryos, due the the fact that it is pretty much impossible to develop a white horse breed that breeds true.  It is not confirmed, however, and is not a part of Equiverse at the very least.

There is no such thing as a white horse because in real horse terms they are actually grey. (sorry! I just couldn't hold it in!)
So when you see a grey horse you would say "that horse looks white" but a horse person would say that but know it is actually grey.

Armilly - White horses are different from grey horses. True, you often can't tell which a horse is at a glance, but white is different from grey. Greys start out darker and turn white over time. I'm not nearly as familiar with horse genetics as some here, but white is caused by a variety of different genes, but it's a marking, something a horse is born with, rather than it slowly greying the horse out.

Grey horses have dark skin and are born having color, and gradually go grey over their lifetime.  Their skin remains dark their whole lives, though.

White horses have no pigment in their skin and are white from birth.

Colors such as cremello or ivory champagne can appear nearly white, but their skin and hair actually does have a bit of pigment in it.

So if you want to be able to tell a fully greyed horse from a white, look at the skin of the horse.
