A lot of horses in rescue center..

#144863 Posted on 2018-02-01 03:15:39

Why are there so many horses in the rescue center? Some are all the way to regional level.. some are just plain foundation horses and most of them are called just stuff like: aaa, ..., mare, stallion or test.

But why do people do it? There are sometimes hundreds of foundation horses there from different breeds. There rarely are trakheners, shetland ponies or chincoteagues..

I only want to know why some people just breed hundreds of horses and then send them to the rescue center. It seems kinda weird to me.

because when breeding, you generally only keep the foal / foals that will help the breeding program. whats the point in keeping a 55 confo foal when the rest of the breeding herd is in the high 60s? and colour - if you breed two nicely coloured horses and get something simple like a chestnut, you dont really want it. some people have too many horses, some people give up on breeding projects or just an entire herd . we call them simple names like that (mine are usually cull or rc) so that when i go through my horses, i know which ones to get rid of instead of having to just hunt through them, and i just leave the name the same.

some people go through lots of foundations hoping they'll find certain trait(s) they're looking for (be it color, stats in certain areas, high confo, etc.) and stick the "leftovers" in the RC, no biggie.

in the past, ive created hundreds of horses trying to find a few dozen that are worth keeping. the ones that aren’t got tossed into the RC where they either disappeared after 3 days, or we adopted by players that had different goals when it comes to EV  horses than I do.

i’ll also geld stallion foals that ive breed that don’t meet my requirements for keeping and put those in the RC. Someone could pick them up as a  nice show horse if they want, or they’ll disappear:

I’ve noticed some players tend to attach a lot of emotion to the Rescue Center - presumably because of the name? But it’s reslly just s collection of horses owned by the game, and the horses are just bits of code. They don’t need rescuing 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Kahzie
I'm assuming you mean user rescue centers?
That opinion is based on your way of playing the game. I, for one, get attached to the idea of rescuing unwanted horses from the rescue center. It may just be "bits of code" but I don't see anything wrong with using the imagination for your own project. I personally cannot make my own EC horses without getting bored, but I've had my Teke rescue project for a bit of time and have not once gotten bored of it. The idea of "rescuing" a horse and turning it into a grand show horse is something people (like myself), find more motivating or interesting. Just thinking of the horses as unwanted codes is kind of bland, in my opinion.
You may think they do not need rescuing but everyone sees/plays the game differently.
