Level 7 and still new to the game. Need advice!

#142433 Posted on 2018-01-21 15:26:30

I'm new to the game, and I'm slightly confused on which direction to go in.   I want to build my horse stats up, but I also want to know the best way to make money as well.
Any advice???
I currently have about 25 horses. (Half of them are foals)
I'm mainly working on Quarter horses, but I'm slowly working on Lipizzaners on the side.

For money:
Go to the fountain everyday and wish for either money or horses. Money will give you around 1-10k normally (well in my experience) and the jackpot (25k) is pretty rare. If you wish for the horses, sometimes, very rarely, you get a lot of money from it. Also, go to the games tent, do higher or lower (use probability) and for the coin flip, I bet 1k. Usually it pays off ( 1 time in maybe 30 it doesn't). The games tent is how I get most of my profit.

You can also win money in shows, if your horses place. Make sure you have upgraded their tack and they have stats at the higher end of their level. Shows will only generate money if there are more than 4 entries by the time it runs.

As for the horses:
Treat them everyday, with treats that correspond to their speciality's stats. Shows give stats if the horses place 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Train them everyday; after ten days there is a boost to their stats.

To expand on what Io said, if you choose to show, make sure that your horses stats are as high as possible in the traits that correspond to their specialty, and as low as possible in all the other traits.  Anything higher than the ballpark of 60 total non-specialty stats means that a horse (or its ancestors) have been given treats for a different specialty.  These horses will not show well at all, and you would lose money to try to show them.

Any horse can make money through riding schools, though.  Maybe not as much as a successful show horse, but it is generally more consistent and definitely less risky.  You have to use someone else's school if you want to earn money, though.  You get a side bonus of also earning a lot of treats (and the occasional unicorn plushie) so you won't have to waste money buying them.  And your horse will gain stats (they will always be in the horse's specialty stats, even if you put them in a riding school for a different specialty.)  Once again, stats won't be gained as quickly as with showing, but it will be more consistent and less risky.

I see that you have a deluxe account.  If you go to "Stables" you can find your own riding school.  Open that up for business, and it will earn you some money.  You can also buy arenas in "Stable Expansions" for $10,000 a pop.  These can earn you money two different ways.  You can create shows (ten per arena, capped at 200 shows, even if you have more than 20 arenas) and when people enter those shows, you will get a cut of the entry fee.  Also you can open your arenas for training (you have to do this manually - when you buy an arena, it won't be available for people to train in unless you set it up.)  You will get money every time someone uses your arena to train their horses.  You can also save money by training your own horses in your own arenas.  One more way you can use a deluxe account to make money is to buy stalls (also in "Stable Expansions") and open them up for people to board their horses.

Beyond that, you can buy credits and sell them in the Credit Shop, you can get items for free through the Junk Yard or the Fountain or using riding schools and sell them in the Marketplace (or buy them cheap in the Marketplace and sell them for slightly more money.  Check the General Store for pricing to make sure you don't overmark your items, or no one will buy them.)

You can also put your adult horses up for stud or brood.

Finally, always make sure you put all your money in the bank when you are done playing for the day, because only money in the bank will be eligible for daily interest.  (And always remember to grab that interest daily, because it doesn't accumulate if you ignore it.)

Good luck!
