Not that I'm aware of. No stat boosts or anything. The only pro is so if you get rid of them someone else cannot breed to it, thus your lines are safe from outside breeders.

Nope, nothing other than what Lucifer said. Which, this helps when you pick up a massively overbred stallion. So I've done it a bit myself, though I don't care to use it. Mostly it's just a waste of money.
