Health and conformation, love & hate...

#126 Posted on 2016-02-13 11:23:44

I'm getting so many poors O.O

I'm a bit annoyed by the fact that I'll probably have to switch up all my breeding pairs to avoid breeding poor x poor

BUT

I LOVE the new challenge! Can't wait to start producing foals with excellent health and conformation.

Are you guys going to adapt your breeding plans to conformation, or are you going to ignore it?

I loved trying to breed for confo in beta.

Honestly I may move away from color breeding and toward confo.

The breed art is so pretty I leaning more towards color. Plus the conformation part seems so inexact and I would hate to spend all my time and plans to not get the result I want.

But that's just me. Actually I could work on it with my Friesians since there's not much color to work with haha.

I just found out about the health part now so I haven't decided about that.

In the long run, I will probably be going for the health/confo thing, I love that aspect and I'd totally forgot about it. And since my Dutchies are all first gen, shouldn't conflict my breeding plans too much I'm hoping.

I get what you're saying jezarea I'll probably stick to color more with the QHs; but go toward confo with my clydes (since there are only base colors and sabino with them). lol

Yeah the confo thing should be a lot more mathematical on this game than on the old version (I never really understood how to get perfects on the old EV).

Is Health/Conformation affected only by breeding, or can you do anything to the horses during their lifetimes to change that stat? Like, if you don't take care of your horse, does it go down, and vice versa?

I just about had the perfects figured out, wish I had a couple of more weeks to make some breedings before the recode.

What is the health thing people are talking about? I'm confused by that, haha.

But for conformation, I'll probably care about it a little bit more here than I did on the old version, but it's still not going to be my primary goal.

On the recode when confo was originally introduced I was really excited about it.

Now, with a more concrete system in place I'm pretty ecstatic. I love the idea of breeding for stats AND conformation. I want it all.

I was pretty good at getting perfects with the old system (I at least had some 5/6 horses, I think 6/6 but those were Pasos). Now everything is so much more of a challenge and I'm flailing in excitement actually. It's going to be really fun to work on creating my ideal horse. :3 If I ever get bored too, I can just switch breeds or whatnot. Stoked.

Just an observation: It's looking like an average score of 80% is needed to work out all of the poors. I've gotten lucky with three 80+ horses (mare and twins I bred before the recode) but the average scores for Dutch Warmbloods are closer to 50-55%. Lots of work to do!
