Extremely Upset

So I am currently in my last semester of getting my BSN in Nursing. This semester we are doing clinicals on Obstetrics (Labor and delivery, etc) and Pediatrics. 

Yesterday I was on my OB clinical at a hospital in my town. In order to go up to the NICU I have to put on surgical scrubs in case we go down to view a C-section. This means I had to change out of the scrubs I came in.

I get up onto the floor and my instructor tells me we are not allowed to have rings on our fingers. So I take mine off and slip it into the shirt pocket.

8 hours later, I have completely forgotten about taking off the ring because I NEVER take it off so didn't even think about it. So I change back into my scrubs and throw the surgical scrubs into the laundry bin at the hospital. 

I go home.

Over 24 hours later I'm driving and reach to feel my ring and it isn't there.

I've been calling the hospital, I called the OB floor for them to check the laundry, called the Laundry services and they all sent me to Risk Management, who is currently not picking up.

I left a message, and now all I can do is wait and call again in the morning. Might go visit the hospital to talk to some people myself tomorrow. 

The reason this is so upsetting is that this is a Diamond ring that my dad gave to my mother on their first anniversary. My mother died when I was 5 years old to breast cancer and this is the only thing of value I had of hers. 

I am unbelievably mad at myself right now, and am at a loss of what to do.

Thank-you both. I have been trying to distract myself and do other things, homework, watch my favorite shows, etc so I don't think about it. 
I have a friend who works there that is going to ask around tonight while he is on shift.. 
Then I'll call some more in the morning and possibly even show up to the hospital myself and ask around

Oh honey, I am so sorry :( Something similar happened to me when I was doing my student teaching. It was my grandmothers wedding ring and one that I had admired for YEARS. Thank God we found it, but it took over a month. Sending positive vibes and good juju your way!
