Color QH Breeders

#123163 Posted on 2017-10-01 16:43:36

Hi everyone!

I am Koda, owner and operator of Koda's Color QHs. I started in July of 2017 and have slowly built my empire of gorgeous colored quarter horses! I have made a few friends here and there, and am having lots of fun here! So, I made this chat for us Colored Quarter Horse Breeders to just chat about everything and anything regrading our beloved quarter horses. I will start out by just chatting about my stallion that started it all: Houston.

Houston, a grullo tovero stallion (located in my "Stallions 3-19 yrs" old division), is the first rare colored QH I was lucky to breed. I had a little help finding his beautiful parents, bred them, and then WOOSH, Houston ended up in my barn. The three weeks I waited for him to age took FOREVER, but now he is aging far to quickly for my liking. Now, I have much more attractive studs, but Houston will always have a special place in my heart!

Now, it is your guys' turn to talk about ANYTHING quarter horse related!

Super awesome!
I am currently building up my Foundations Generation 1 horses. They're currently ranging from 1 years to 10 years. Since i am fairly new to the game and my current only income is the fountain and games tent, I can't go to the EC and spend a TON at one time waiting to get that perfect horse all at once. I have to do it split up.
Haven't bred any of them yet as I don't like to breed younger than 10 years.

BUT a week ago I got my two favorite foundations from the EC! Not crazy or anything, but I only have like 12 QH's so far, so at the moment while just on Generation 1 without any outside lines included, these are my favorite, but I have some others I love a lot too!

http://www.equiverse.com/horse.php?id=675930 Coriander is a Silver Seal Brown mare, a Roan and Tobiano! I just LOVE that I have a horse to enter Silver into my heard!! I already have two roans (including below) and some tobianos but no silver :)
http://www.equiverse.com/horse.php?id=675926 Cardinal is just a Chestnut Stallion, a roan and Sabino. I just absolutely love how he was shaded and his markings :)
Sorry can't do links.

Hoping to find some other cool horses at the EC too here soon because I really am hoping to support my heard without any outside horses until at least generation 3. Then I'll only include outside horses that are Foundations until Generation 4. That is my goal anyways... Not sure if it will work.

That so awesome!!
I started my goal of having every color of QH (which I am only missing that darn Classic Champagne Dun.....argh) when I first started and fell in love with the QHs. I did incorporate quite a few outside QHs at first, but now I am doing the same thing as you and attempting to start generations of home-bred-only horses.

If you ever need help with anything, let me know too!

I am breeding some Western stat QHs for color! My favorites are dilutes are Champagnes, Duns, and combos of Cr/D/Ch, and by far my favorite of all are Brown based coats of any kind! I also have a Confo line and plan to mix them togethere eventually for high confo, pretty color quarters who excel in Western. My Color division is HERE. :)

I've got a fairly decent herd of colored Quarter Horses. I've got Dun, Cream and white patterns in my herd currently. Hoping eventually to add some brown and champagne eventually, but that's pretty far down the line for me since I don't currently plan on adding new foundation stock unless I need to.

Hey all =D

First of all, I think this chat is a good idea, makes tracking down colorful QH breeders so much easier! =P

I am currently breeding colored quarter horses for western riding. Focusing on stats and colors while trying to slowly improve on conformation. Main goal is to breed colorful horses fit for showing and who aren't overbred. I used t only breed champagne and flaxen, but have started introducing cream, seal brown and duns...now they've turned into a rainbow heard lol XD

Some of my favorite home bred babies include ღ Yumeღ Kilalaღ Shiruku and ღ Taishō to name only a few.
Been thinking about saving up and starting a new foundation line, but still deciding.

My youngsters can be found stabled in the here and the older horses who are ready for shows can be found here for anyone who wants to take a peep ;)
