*Separate Sales Barn

#122899 Posted on 2017-09-28 07:40:07

I was wondering if anyone else would like the idea of a separate sales barn?

At the moment you can't sell locked horses so any time you want to sell a horse, you have to age it daily - this includes training it/giving it treats/showing or schooling it ... i.e. you have to spend a lot of time and money on a horse you don't want and it's getting older whilst you wait for someone who might want it.

So I was wondering if perhaps we had a separate sales area where you can send horses, in which they won't age when you progress each day, but will remain for sale?

This will also benefit buyers as instead of people slightly ignoring/neglecting their sale horses; giving them lesser treats, not training or schooling over showing, the horse will remain the same age and won't need to be cared for giving more freedom to the buyer to train/treat/show as they want to (especially for new born foals).

I know it could take a lot of work for Abbey, but what do you guys think?

I like this idea. However I can see a lot of potential bugs with this being added, such as other divisions not progressing right, etc. I'm not sure if this would be a problem, though, as I don't know much about coding.

This could instead be implemented as just keeping horses up for sale/auction if they are locked, or not requiring them to have progressed in order for a bid to be placed.

Support, regardless of how it's implemented.

Sorta split on this. I like the idea, but I also like buying older horses or within a specific age range, if they don't age at all then a lot of horses aren't going to pass into that age range and potentially be overlooked even more. If there's no improvement at all because you can't be bothered to care for it, you're gonna struggle to sell and stagnate the market even more unless it's dirt cheap.

I'd rather see the ability to buy unprogressed horses within a 24-48 hour grace period, with any bids placed on them returned after a week of not progressing.

I like this idea but I especially like maple's take on it. One thing that annoys me as a horse buyer since the change was made to take money out of my account when I place a bid rather than when I receive a horse is when the seller doesn't log on for a month and I'm out that money while I wait for them to return and accept or reject my bid. With no guarantee that they will ever return! I've actually stopped placing bids on horses that the owner hasn't logged in for the past week unless it's a name I recognize as a regular active player.

So I think having the sale barn as an option for people who don't want to worry about caring for horses they're selling is really good, but also being able to sell horses from the normal barn should still be available for the players who don't mind doing that and the players who want to buy older horses. And there is a definite need for some kind of grace period and expiration on bids when the horses haven't been progressed.

Hmmm, I think though that it might encourage people to sell older horses, especially those around 18-20 as you'd currently have to make a very quick sale for the horse to still be of use to someone else, whereas if it was locked you'd be able train a horse to an older age then sell so you could get the best price.

I think it'd be a good idea if locked horses could be sold (assuming it is possible to code for this) rather than having to have an entirely separate area.
