Cron confusion

Does cron still run at 4 a.m. game time? Or has the progression code taken care of horses aging?

I ask because I have a locked stallion who is 1 day from retiring and being unable to breed. I want to breed him, but the owner of the broodmare seems to be at least +6 hours from me in reality and doesn't get online to progress (and thus handle) breeding requests until long after I'm in bed. I wouldn't want to miss the breeding by putting in for it and my stallion becoming 21 before she even wakes up to say yes.

But, given the way progression works, would that even be a problem now if she agreed before I had progressed my stallion for the day?
