chances are the horses are not genotyped in RC if it says gray and shows chestnut or any other color that means it is going to turn gray as it ages when genotyped it will have either Gg or GG both make gray

This comes up fairly often as a "bug" - the labelling in the RC is in fact trying to do you a favor! Those chestnut, etc. horses are listed as gray because, as Hidden Acres says, they are G_, and will indeed turn gray, and have the chance (or certainty in the case of GG) of having graying foals.
