Are Foundations worth it?

#112722 Posted on 2017-07-04 15:34:10

So I thought I wanted to go into Lippizzaners and Chincoteagues. And I found none in the RC and very few that I wanted to buy for sale.
So is trying to get decent (57+ conformation, and either Gg for Lippizzaners, or colorful for Chincos) from the Equine Center worth the amount I could end up paying out? Or should I try to wait for someone to start selling them?
Or I go into slightly more common breeds.

I'd just like some input. Thanks ahead of time for any advice you may provide.

P.S. ((Starting from all foundations is not a requirement for me.))

I'd suggest trying to do a mixture of both or buying horses that aren't necessarily ideal but could breed good horses. But if it's not a popular breed you might always have a hard time finding horses to buy.

I breed Lipizzaners and let me tell you I have had the worst luck trying to get non gray out of the EC. I lost patience and money trying to get non gray and just used coat randomizers on my 3 groups. I managed to get lucky and bought a herd from someone and the other 2 groups I picked up from the RC. I figured that conformation was something I can improve over few generations so I just stuck with what I got.

You could wait for someone to sell foals. Lipizzaner breeders aren't very active hence the low amount but I'm trying to change that.

I haven't decided to sell any foals yet, but will likely have 2nd gens after I sort through what I am going to keep(sometime in the future). I will also have a set of stallions with only 2 out of 3 breedings if you have any mares ^_^

Personally, I like the idea of starting from Foundations and building up, but that's just me. I don't mind putting in the effort and spending credits here and there to get some coats I want or to remove a gray gene.

I spent a decent amount of cash and I tend to haunt the RC, but I got lucky with a lot of my Foundations being 58+. I have a few 56s (but I'm trying to cut down on them a tad).

Nothing more satisfying and rewarding than watching foundies that you've started from scratch gain stats and progress knowing you did all the back end work.
