The Clydesdale Club - July

#111621 Posted on 2017-06-28 13:39:11

Hello!

I am currently running for President of the Clydesdale Club. When Abbey introduces the new club system I hope to be able to own the club as well.
It appears I will be the President for July, as I am the only person running - but that's good!

Clydesdales are a new breed for me on Equiverse. I've been there, done that with almost every breed but usually pushed me away from other breeds were the breed art. Since the recode launch, I have fallen in love with the Clydesdale breed art and markings.

My goal when breeding Clydesdales are to produce solid chestnuts with great stats. Until conformation is further looked into as far as what it affects in horses, I will stay a bit away from focusing on conformation, but not entirely.

I am currently on my first line of Clydesdales, all foundations, all bred and being raised by myself. I am very invested into them as I have purchased credits with the sole purpose of changing some colors and markings around. Just recently I have begun showing my horses and they are all doing fabulous. I get at least one placing from every horse each day. Some of my most frequent placers are MisophniaNarcissism, and Melancholia.

Upon my presidency, I would like to encourage the members of the Clydesdale come to help me make the club one of the most fun and active on Equiverse.

What I need from you all, Clydesdale breeders and club members, is what you want to see happen in the club. Would you like contests? If so, what kind? Would you like raffles and prizes? If so, what kind? Would you like giveaways? If so, what kind?

I was the president of the TWH club for a few months in a row and I would like to humbly say I did a good job. The members were active and we had small contests and things every now and then. The registration requirements and layout were re-done and members were satisfied.

I will remain an active breeder for who knows how long, I've been here since 2012 and I love running clubs and being in charge, but not in a dictatorship sort of way. I want to hear your opinions and what you want, so that I can really help encourage us all to become more active and have fun!

Welcome to Clydesdales as a breed.

Personally I like doing all kind of contests and raffles just for fun. I'm not biased to specifics myself.

Ironically I breed for the opposite end of the gene spectrum that you do. I'm breeding for solid blacks but my Ee black clydes throw me just as many solid chestnuts as blacks on some days. I'm trying to get a diverse range of leg markings and facial markings as well, not just full block solid black.

Awesome!

I'm thinking of implementing something I've never tried before, which would be a small ongoing thing called "Favorite Horses". It would be where any member of the club can submit one horse that is registered within the club to be put on the favorite board. Players can anonymously send me a message voting one horse to favorite each week. By the end of the month, whichever horse has the most favorites will win a prize, most likely EVD or EVC. Then, everything wipes and starts over the next month. You can keep the same entry or change entries. Winning is voted solely on which horse is liked the most, judged by each member's own different standards. I may even make trophies to go along with the prize that will be custom colored to the exact look of the winning horse and given to the owner to display wherever.

I like that idea, that sounds really cool. I haven't thought of that yet. Currently I'm working on new ideas to get the Friesian club active myself, but I look forward to this new type of presidency/ ownership of the Clydesdale club.

Hi Wey,

I love the new layout for the club and look forward to seeing the new club card when it's unveiled.
I'm a relatively new player and in-turn Clydesdale Breeder. I'm mainly focusing on stats and conformation, but have dreams of producing a  solid color line, focusing on black and bay, along with sb+ and sbsb's lines in various disciplines.

I'll try to participate when and where I can (as time permits)  as a member of the club, and look forward to your  club ownership.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you; on a whim I started up a small line of foundation Clydesdales a few months ago. My plan is to breed these 16 down to one "ultimate" fifth-generation horse, which will hopefully wind up a solid chestnut. After that, I'll have to decide where I want to go with them... maybe starting another foundation line, probably focusing on black and chestnut solids.

I'm not especially good at coming up with club-related activities, but I do enjoy contests and the like.

@Tiger Eye - Hello! Thank you very much for your compliment on the layout :) I thank you for your interest in participation and for sharing your goals with me!

@OTW - That's exactly what I did. I didn't even really put much thought into starting the breed, it was just a habit of shoveling out horses from the EC and I ended up keeping them :) Doesn't happen very often. I love solid chestnuts and solid blacks so it's happy to see another person focusing on those colors as well.
