Why aren't my horses placing?

I'm trying to puzzle this one out. I read a strategy once where you enter horses in shows only if they are very close to reaching the next level - otherwise, send them to a riding school. I've been doing that all this week, and two of my ponies that are very close to reaching National 1 have done very poorly in shows. Can anyone help me figure out why?

I guess it's the luck factor. One horse does great one day and then does terrible the next. I don't know what else to say! *shrugs*

How are you entering them in shows? That can have a lot to do with it!

I handpick shows as close to 5 entries as possible and create shows if there aren't enough to meet that criteria.

You know I've had the same problem. i entered my entire Clyde herd in shows one day and none of them placed. It's like I can't get any of my horses to place:(

I'm trying a new-ish tactic. Entered in 5 shows, closest to only 5 entries I can get, and schooled for 5 hours. Maybe the speedy stat boost from schooling will do something. I'm not exactly hopeful.

I've thought about doing that, i just don't want it to be a waste you know? When i could just keep getting stats from the riding school in place of shows giving me none, but I don't want to just not show my horses. Its frustrating.

Regional 5 horses are the first to start needing 200 points. It basically means it takes longer for horses to win in shows.

The two horses I listed are now at 1099 and 1095, respectively. National 1 starts at 1100 points :P I don't get it.

Well, Toybox may be struggling because he has over 150 non-specialty stats. He won't be competative, as you can see with his show earnings.

Huh. That's the method to get the best possible results. Have you checked the results of the shows they're in to see what horses they are losing to?

@Ducky - I tend to aim for the $50-$100 shows based on number of entries and time remaining, and will sometimes create extra (less expensive or moderately less expensive) shows for that purpose. I didn't think about checking non-specialty stats. Whew....competition.
