Yeah, the game makes things tons easier just by automatically naming the pattern. In real life there's so many white patterns that can look similar or ambiguous that the only way to tell if your horse has overo is usually to genetically test them, or accidentally get a lethal white foal. However in real life if you just want to test for overo or dominant white you can do that, which is obviously much cheaper than testing for all genes.

Perhaps if we got lethal genes we could also get different levels of genetic testing? e.g. full testing for the usual $1000 or just test Kit and Overo, for maybe $100? (And still allow full testing later if desired.) That way those concerned about cost have a cheaper option.

Just one more reason for me to love EV! Easier is always good!

That sounds like a great idea! If I didn't test for the full geno but could test just for Kit & Overo I'd love that! Especially if it cost less!

Yeah, real life has a lot of things that are way more complex than the game. Even the term "overo" doesn't even mean frame. It means any white pattern (aside from appaloosa patterning) that isn't tobiano, which includes sabino, all the white spotting mutations, frame, and all the splashes.
