Vet Farrier

So can i let the vet farrier thing go for a little bit? If so how long?
Can the horses die from lack of vet or farrier use? I checked the forums and there are posts that say yes they will die if you don't take horses to the vet farrier and then others that say no you just cant show etc...
I only need the horses to do riding school right now, so if they can do that and wont drop dead i'll be fine...

I think (from my notifications) they can die from no vet/farrier after 4 or 5 days....
