Aeromase's Horses
← View All HorsesBREED INFO: I'm crossing B and D Section Welsh Ponies with Dutch Warmbloods to create the ideal Polo ''Pony.'' Polo Ponies aren't technically a breed or ponies at all, they are simply horses that are trained for and compete in Polo. Typically Polo Ponies are Thoroughbred crosses, sometimes TB x Criollo, Anglo Arabs, or TB x Quarter Horse. But I decided I wanted to try something a little different and go with the sturdy, agile, multifaceted Welsh Pony and the uber athletic, all-rounder Dutch Warmblood (which has TB in it's ancestry anyway) in order to create an ideal build and size for a Polo Pony. They must not be too tall, nor too short, but a good distance from the ground so that reaching the ball with your mallet is not too difficult. They must be strong horses that can handle some jostling from bumping into each other on the field without serious risk of injury, and they must be intelligent, with high trainability. Personally, I think I've found a pretty good combo! METHOD: I will be cubing and then converting these horses, since this is mostly another ''for fun'' project. They will be converted to Show Jumping, since that's the only discipline I feel that has the stats that best describes what you'd need for Polo (personally I'd go with strength and agility, but we don't have a discipline that uses that combo yet). ''BREED'' STANDARD: The standards I've created for my Polo Ponies are: that they must be min 54.00 confo and 5/8 goods, nothing over 65NSS, and F1s must be between 14.3-16.3hh, with 15.0-15.3hh being the ideal. no GG gray or white. Solid colors preferred, however all colors and patterns are permitted except for appaloosa/leopard (spots).
