HS Ferilion (J)

Story of 2. HS Ferilion

While making the last rounds around the property, it was decided that our mare, 1. HS Hwestien 52 59.63 should be brought into the stables for the night, as we were expecting her final foal any time now. She was due to drop her little one, and the weather for the night suggested rather dangerous conditions. 

Settling her into a stall where she would be quite comfortable for the night, with a small covered yard for her to roam out into if she wished, we returned back to our house and went to bed for the evening. It was a very noisy ngiht, with a ferocious thunderstorm going on. At one point we think we heard a tree crash to the ground somewhere. 

Early the next morning one of our workers went to check on Hwestien, and lo and behold there was a tree that had fallen and broken the roof of the small sheltered yard attached to her stall, and flattened the fence. Fortunately by the time it fell, she had been inside, and was standing watching us. As soon as the worker saw her, he realised she had had a foal. 

I was alerted immediately, and went to see for myself, since she wouldn't let him close. Curled up in the straw bedding of the stall, which fortunately was not damaged by the fallen tree.. was a small colt. A buckskin, and from the looks of it he had roan colouring intersperced with splash markings! Infact he looked almost white from what we could see, as though the storm had tried to wash all his lovely colour away! 

He was rather quiet as I approached and I decided that his name should be Ferilion for short, II HS Floating Wildstorm for the registered name. He is a fine handsome boy and I am very pleased with him.
