Stormclaw

Now understanding where he stood with his clan mates he nodded to Leaftail "ok that's a good idea, shall we going?" he was suddenly more sure of himself, the first time in months slotting back into a leadership role felt so normal and it comforted him. At Cherrybranch's suggested intimacy he also felt an awkwardness but grinned at Leaftail's clear uncomfortableness "let's find some prey before anything like that!" A small amount of humour released the tension and he felt so much better.

Moonpaw

Nodding to Stormfur she set to work, it was comforting to be told what to do but as she neared the apprentices den memories of her best friend Squirrelpaw flooded her mind and she had to pause to bite back more tears and push the memories to the back of her mind. She had the den cleared quickly and took the sickly bedding to the camp enterance, she left it there unsure of where Storm fur wanted to dispose of it.

Tigerheart

Grinning he tucked in to the fresh rabbit making sure his brother ate his fill. When they were finished he flicked the remains into the bushes and stood to help Fuzzystripe along again.

Cherrybranch hopped up. "Alrighty then. Follow me. Oh, and they got a dog to gaurd the birds, but it isn’t overly smart so we should be fine" She headed WindClan territory.

Leaftail - Thunderclan
He ate the last bit of the sparrow and hurried after Cherrybranch. He grinned at Stormclaw, glad that he seemed to perk up a bit. He answered her question as he walked. "Well, like I said before, I followed Nightpaw until I found him, killed by the disease." He sighed deeply, and forgot that he was talking, absorbed back into the depression that often hit him with thoughts of Nightpaw.

Poor Leaftail. To lighten the mood, Cherrybranch sung a song she created. "To catch a mouse, to eat a bird. Thats the warrior life, or so I've heard. We follow a code. We stick together. We stay strong, even in leaf-bare weather" and so on.

Leaftail - Thunderclan
A voice hit his ears, and he flicked them. Thoughts of Nightpaw swirled in his brain, image after image of his apprentice. His wet eyes blinked away at the tears forming. He couldn't leave this pit that dragged him under too often. His apprentice, with life ahead of him. Nightpaw, the energetic young tom who loved to learn. Who had run away and then caught the disease. His ears flicked again. Something stirred him from his despair, dragged him from the pit by a rope. A voice, singing. It had caught his attention, and thoughts of Nightpaw fell away as he listened. "Where'd you learn that?" he whispered, watching his paws plod along. Nighpaw had jet black paws, a jet black pelt, and piercing green eyes. He shook his head and scattered the thoughts.

Cherrybranch shrugged. "I could always sing like this"

Leaftail - Thunderclan
"Where'd you learn the song?" Leaftail looked up and glanced at the she-cat padding ahead of him. "Your voice is good too," he said quickly, realizing he may have sounded rude for not acknowledging her voice. But he wondered where the song came from. It was very good.

Cherrybranch glanced over her shoulder. "I came up with it." She started singing again. "My mother was a master hunter. My father was a master fight. They wanted me to be like them. Their will squeezing me tighter and tighter. But I was me, independently me. To be who I am, is my destiny. So come now, my friend. No reputation to spend. Leave worries behind you, until the very end"

Leaftail - Thunderclan
He looked at his paws again, plodding on and on. He shook off his odd reverie and jumped ahead to walk beside Cherrybranch. "I like that." He looked around at their surroundings. Nightpaw would like that song. He was working on being able to think about the dark tom without tearing up, and the thought just made him smile a little. The little apprentice was unique, that's for sure.

"Thank you" Cherrybranch replied.

Leaftail - Thunderclan
He nodded at her, and tried to think of anything other than Nightpaw. He had gone through his depression already. He hadn't realized coming back to these woods would bring back some of the haunting memories and sadness. But the woods were full of memories - Nightpaw as a kit venturing out into the wood for the first time, his first catch, his first time climbing a tree, his first battle training. Being his mentor had been one of the best times of Leaftail's life. He looked at a tree. Oddly shaped, he thought, then chuckled. He never would have thought of that if he wasn't trying to stop thinking of Nightpaw. He threw his head back and breathed in deep. The loamy, rich scent of Thunderclan hit him hard, and he grinned. "Home," he said aloud, the word full of promise and joy.

Stormclaw

Walking just behind his clan mates he listened carefully to Cherrybranch's song, it triggered a distant memory of his mother who was long dead before the disease, she used to sing made up songs to them as kits. He looked at the two cats ahead of him and Leaftail's expression of relief and the word 'home' rang oddly in his mind, their home but in ruins and with that he felt the weight of his responsibility.

Cherrybranch leapt over a fallen tree. "So... coming up on the border" Cherrybranch slipped down into the WindClan stream. She crawled out on the other side and flopped down. "Its a little...full today!"

Stormclaw

Following Cherrybranch he paused at the Windclan border, this didn't feel right cross another clans territory to find prey it unsettled him but he realised the scent was weak, clearly no windclan cat had been past recently, he wondered if any of them survived "do you guys know if any of Windclan survived? I haven't even scented a Windclan cat for weeks" he said as he stepped into the small stream, the water rose to his belly fur and he sucked in a breath as the cold water seeped into his fur.

Moonpaw

She returned to the dens and began dragging out all of the warrior den bedding. She bundled it up with careful paws and rolled it to the other pile she'd made, it was tiring work for a malnourished cat but she met Stormfur at the leaders den when she was done.

Tigerheart

As they entered the heart of thunderclan territory he kept his ears pricked and was on high alert. For all he knew there could still be infected cats here or angry rogues or no one. The last option was the worse by far.

Cherrybranch lifted her head. "I've passed through for days. There's no one... living here at least."

Fuzzystripe bristled. "I smell someone."
