Why won't my horse place?

#76897 Posted on 2016-11-25 06:34:41

Why isn't my horse placing? He's 7/10 for his next stat boost points, level 5 training level, has fully upgraded tack, he's cared for and treated every day, and his highest two stat types are the two needed for his specialty. And yes, I am entering him in shows that are his grade (local 3). What am I doing wrong?

I think you're referring to TGOE RAF RF's Typhoon? if you are he isn't placing because his non-specialty stats are exceedingly high. When you add all non-specialtly stats together you want them to add to 65 or less, his non-specialty stats are 143 (most likely he was fed peppermints, hay cubes, or sugar cubes at sometime during his life). Since he is a foundation horse you can fix the problem by converting him to another specialty then converting him back to racing (which will cost 10k and 2 EVC, but personally I think would be worth it since his non-specialty stats are so high). If you can't afford to do this now then I would enter him into riding schools and save the money/EVC required to do the conversions before breeding him, you don't want those none speciality stats to be passed on to his foals because then they'll have trouble competing as well.

Since overall stats determine grade, but specialty stats determine winners it makes none specialty stats more of a burden than a bonus.

i.e.
horse 1 has 480 stats
200 int
200 spd
80 everything else

this horse competes at Western L3 competition with

horse 2 who has 460 stats
220 int
220 spd
20 everything else

horse 2 beats horse 1 because horse 1 has higher non-specialty stats (this is based on stats alone, which of course aren't the only determination of winners, but incredibly important to determining winners of competitions).

Hope that helps; I also want to say that I made the same mistake and only with the insight of Confessor did I come to understand all of this :)

But my horse is the right specialty for it's highest stats, which are 169 and 276, and all of the other stats are 23, but she hardly ever places. I have noticed this for all of my horses.

Does your horse have 5/5 tack? Having the highest quality tack could help you with that problem if you aren't using it right now.

5/5 saddle and bridle are more important than the other two (in my experience). If you can't upgrade tack then players at higher lvls (myself included) might upgrade it for you at cost.

Oh, I thought 1/5 meant it could be used for all grades. :P

1/5 all the way to 5/5 tack can be used on all horses. Grades don't limit you to certain tack scores like those. They're simply from basic to the best.. I try to upgrade all my gear when I can
