Drawing Tablet?

#75494 Posted on 2016-11-12 15:43:28

I am looking to purchase a drawing tablet that is compatible with gimp (i think gimp 2) and/or pixlr (preferably both) and must be able to use on windows 10. I want one that lasts quite long and is easy to use. Price isnt really an issue. Thanks!

I used to use GIMP before I bought my wacom intuos pen & tablet a year or so ago. Originally, it was compatible with windows 8 because that's what I had back then, but now I have windows 10 and all I had to do was download a new driver on their website. Additionally, the tablet comes with free downloads of several digital art programs. The one I use the most of those is Photoshop Element 10.
It's about $100, I think?

I had the intous pen and touch too in the small size ans I worked pretty well for me. I recently needed to upgrade my old broken computer so I bought a surface pro 4 (big investment lol). Comes with a pen that have fabulous pen pressure and it works with paint tool sai (you can get it for free on da) and photoshop(there's a 30 day trial) wonderfully. I'd figure it'll prob work with gimp as well.

I have an old bamboo that I used to use which I liked a lot, but I recently upgraded to an intuos pro in the medium size. While I haven't had the time to do a ton with it yet, the pen pressure is much better than my old bamboo pad. I probably could have gone with a small but I didn't want to chance the small being too small, and you can change the size of the active area on the medium pad to a smaller size if the bigger active area is too big for your drawing preference and hand movements. It also works fine on my Windows 10 laptop.

And Cazoo I have been lusting after a surface pro 4 and I'm trying to convince my husband to get me one for Christmas as my ONLY gift lol.

My friend just gave me the Wacom Intuos pen Small and I love it! It's an old model, so you can ginf one on amazon for about $65, but its a great starter to help you get used to using one.

GIMP is really finicky. Pressure sensitivity used to work with most of my old tablets of various brands, and possibly my Bamboo Fun Pen & Touch (though I'm not 100% sure on that). Pressure sensitivity has NEVER worked with GIMP and my Intuos Pro.
