First art attempt in years (incomplete)

So being back on EV I am trying to get back into art a bit. I used to used Jasc Paint Shop Pro and a bit of GIMP and I;ve done manips and pixel art before.
I thought I should get practising and here's what I came out with:::

It's still a work in progress and I am eager for help/tips/advice/suggestions please! Thank you to the original dA artist for the lines xo

Since you are on DA, I highly suggest downloading free to use horse marking brushes. You can use them for all sorts of things, like realistic dapples and appy spots. Plus, it makes life much easier :P
