Background Stories for my Herd

#41814 Posted on 2016-05-28 15:19:59

I really want to make background stories for all my herd. Not so much Roleplay, but more so a story behind them, so their markings, personalities.. and make them all some add-ons and stuff :)

I've just got no idea how to go about it, and I am blind on ideas. I have very small ideas for a few, relating mostly to their names etc. But I need some more stories for them and most of them are mated up though.

Anyways, they're all on my page, if you've got any cool ideas for what I should do, or how I can do them.. I'd love to create some more art to show them a little more and stuff.

I'm just stumpted for ideas haha please haaalpp! :)

I'm whipping up a character site slowly this week. but they are all on my page anyway as links.

Nishe is Niasha's father. Her mother was Fara. My second character but I let her go to someone else who could love her. And they don't play now and didn't for some time not long afterI sold her. Was a shame actually. She was so pretty.

Definite romantic Pairs already are:
Auron & Rikku
Atho & Oya
Possibly Vatea & Enigma (both celestrial charatcers)
Possibly Dom & Asea

Memphis is one of my all time favourites. ♥
The 'blue unnmaed one', he is pretty special too.

The others aren't TOO much as important. I'll probably part with a few of them..

My only advice is: if you ever plan on writing all this out, don't decide on all of the story just yet! Decide on a solid foundation storyline and then write from there, building the story more as new characters come and go. I was going to write my main characters' backstory, but the story got too far in and advanced in my head that is was basically boring to go back to the beginning of the saga and write about it. Even though I gave up writing it after the first chapter, the story still grows and progresses in my mind as, like I said, characters come and go. It doesn't change much anymore, since I've worked out the kinks of the original drafts; it just progresses, much like an actual book series or TV show.
If you don't plan on actually writing it all out, then ignore what I just said lol. If all you want to do is give a brief backstory on each character's page instead of one huge book (that's exaggerated, but I'm sure you get what I mean), then I'm of no help to you ;)
As for helping you figure out exactly what story you want, I'm of no help there, either. I don't like making stories/personalities for others' characters; it makes me want them :X
Oh, and also, each character doesn't need his/her own story. A bunch- as in most -of mine all exist in the same storyline world and their stories progress as one.

Personalities first, then the back story can explain why they are who they are.

Personalities I think are easy. Kinda goes like this:
good or bad?
Smart or a bit dense?
Easygoing or short-tempered?
bombproof or skittish?
Loud or shy?
caring or cold?
etc.

Some personality traits just evolve as you write their story, but you do need to have a couple to start with :)

After that, you decide if you want the character to have any personality faults, like vanity, selfishness, etc.
Then you do strengths and fears.

The back story explains how mates met, why the character has certain fears, strengths, or faults. So if you character is afraid of water, a good backstory would have them or someone close to them almost drowning or something like that.

I know its a bit vague, but hope this gives you a place to start!

OMW, reading this tells me how casual I am about this writing business...I just let the story come to me and write, then spill it out on the page, LOL!
