I figured that this would make quite a lovely little topic here. Please introduce us members to all of your real life horse loves, this includes any equine that you own/lease/lesson on/take care of... horses, donkeys, mules, ponies, zebras.. you name it! Feel free to include pictures, so long as the picture is appropriate. Why wouldn't it be, you may ask? Make sure that the picture does not show where you live (such as signs, equestrian center names, so on..)

Have fun :)

I'll start it off, I suppose. I own three horses myself, a bay overo APHA gelding "Skeeter", a bay roan QH mare "Storm", and a chestnut tobiano pinto mare "Rain". Once I get my page up and running, you'll see them as my characters. I do many things with them - compete (various western events from halter, to performance, to speed), trail ride, sometimes parade, and rodeo queen. I even trained my youngster, Storm. I have also worked with a few horses on correcting bad behavior or bad training, such as with Skeeter, Rain and a little project pony I had named Juno.

Skeeter is my only registered horse, registered with APHA as "Hershey's Coco Bar". He is 15.2hh and almost 15 years old. Skeeter is mostly retired now due to degenerative joint disease in his front pasterns (ankles). Personality wise he can get a little hot and be a bit of a jerk, especially after any amount of time without riding. With him, he'll do what you ask but only after testing you. Regardless, he is a good ride. Lately I've jut been riding him English for fun.

Storm is unregistered due to some issues, but out of registered parents. Her full name is "Stormfire Dancing", and she is not quite 14.3hh and 4 (almost 5) years old. She is built short and stocky, with what mom calls a "old fashioned cutting horse build". She's the first and only horse that I've ever broke, I got her as an untouched 2 year old. I have plans for taking her to college and rodeoing, mostly barrels. Smart but sassy attitude. You know, typical mare type lol.

Rain comes from a rather unknown background, all I can say is she looks like a ranch horse. She is 15, almost 16, and stands at 14.3hh. I got her over a year ago. Rain is untrusting and it takes a while for her to be comfortable with someone, but once she trusts you she is amazing. She puts up with all the silly things I do, and really reminds me of the guardian/babysitter type. She is currently my main show horse, but due to heaves related to allergies she needs medication (it is easily managed).

So, what about your babes?

Jemma, a 13.2hh Fell Pony from Cumbria (bought down to where we are at the minute at 6 months old).

She is a 23 year old pony that acts like a 3 year old, still going strong, and is the pony that I currently loan.

She enjoys any sort of treat and fall asleep when she is groomed [today I managed to get her mane and tail knot free, I was so happy xD].

I started loaning her 26/08/15 [08/26 for Americans;)]

She can be very moody, kicking other horses [never people] if they get too close, or if she really hates them she'll purposely go up to them and kick them. xD One of the horses at the yard is actually scared of her..

She will be very picky about whether she is going to go on a ride or not, or if she'll go at the front or the back of a ride. Typical fussy mare. ^-^

She has a freeze mark, which I think is 4K80 but it's very hard to tell because it is faded and she is very fluffy at the minute. ;P

I never hesitate to show off my poneh. Though she's new to me, so I don't have a ton of pictures (ok, haha, who am I kidding? Even with the horse I owned for 7 months I hardly had pictures of).

Anyways, this is my new pony Pepper. She's roughly 14.1ish (could be a hair more towards 14.2), so technically does still get to be called a pony. I traded my old mare Fawkes for her on January 23rd. Fawkes was just too big for me, and I was struggling with mounting and saddling her, so I looked for a trade, so cue in Pepper.

She's a 4 y/o grade pinto (not sure if more "pure American Paint" or just an unknown cross) and for the most part a little doll. She can get cranky and needs to learn personal space (she thought she should lay her head on me while I was adjusting her blankets). But she's a great little size for me, and I'm not too concerned about things as she'll be going to training March 1st (actually at my barn).

She unfortunately is clipped (horribly, lol) and of course now is at a facility with no heated barn/indoor/anything (the previous owner clipped her because they had a heated indoor arena). Thankfully she had two blankets set with her, as we've been in the negatives this past week.

These photos are from when I first got her. I haven't bothered to take more (other than the one in the blanket) as I don't want to unblanket her and her get chilled.

first is Jackson. he's a semi-retired 18-year-old Arab/QH gelding.

next is Fidelius, a 7-year-old Icelandic horse gelding. he's four-gaited, which means he has walk, trot, canter, and tolt.

there are two other horses in my family that used to belong to me and i might post their pics later.

I have 5 horses currently. Plus you know the 30 or so we've had that either passed, rehomed, sold, or traded. We used to run an unofficial animal rescue.

Youngest to Oldest

Firstly our newest, and cutest addition to the family. Hidden Timbers Shawnee War Chief or Shawn. He'll be a year old in March or April (I think?). Need to look at his papers. We joked that it's like having Chance & Sidekick mixed together into one horse. Both personality and color wise. He's both a fluffy sweetheart, and a willing frisky little ball of fire. I hope to do lots of showing with him. We'll also be putting him up for stud, when he turns 3.
He's a Dark Bay Tovero with 1 blue eye, and one partial blue/brown (heterochromia). With what we call a Skunk tail lol. He's a registered Miniature Horse Colt.

Next up we have....
Mike's Major Mack. He has many nicknames, Big Mack Combo (Because he's chubby), Mack, Macky, Mackybutt, Goofy, Dummy, Meanybutt, etc. He's lazy most days, and fast as a cheetah on (particularly the beginning of fall and spring) others. He's a big bully to our mare Rosie, he's dominant, and a big pig. He's everything mare stereotype, there ever was. But, on good days, he's a goofy, sweetheart that I love to death. He's a Blonde Flaxen Chestnut Extremely Minimal Pangare, Haflinger Gelding. He's registered, and is in his early teens. But, who can resist the cute little ears.

Next up we have...
Chance a Fully Greyed Out Miniature Horse Gelding. We rescued him as a three year old, where he was used as a breeding stallion. But, he was in a field with around 10+ mares. So, he probably has a lot of foals running around the world. He's 15 years old now, and still getting over his fear of tall people. When you approach him you need to be slow, as well as whisper to him. No yelling, running, or jumping. He will run away from you, or cower in fear. We fear he either was abused or just wasn't well handled as a youngster.

Besides the shyness Chance is a sweetheart, and was my little trick horse. We still do them occasionally. But, I was forced to retire him due to heeves. He's on medication, though if gets too worn out, he'll start coughing.

And the only mare in our group

Rosie a 13.2 hh Strawberry Roan Sabino Paso Fino Mare. She doesn't fit the mare stereotypes. She's amazing, and I love her dearly. My mom rides her mostly. She's a trail horse. Rosie's 20 years old, and we've had her for around 12 years or more.
She can be moody occasionally, but overall she's a sweetheart. She has an eye problem, but nothing too serious. So, far no vet can figure out what it is.

and last but certainly not least. Our beautiful stallion Hitt's Samurai Sidekick a Dark Bay Miniature Horse. He's a father to three foals (all of which have been sold). He's a country boy, and is still as sweet as ever. Gentlest stallion I've ever met. We've owned him for 19 years now. He's going to be 22 this year.

Me and him doing some in hand jumping.

This was Andromeda, she had one blue eye and one brown, was about 15hh and was very sweet with a slight attitude when she didn't get her way or not really wanting to go for a ride, lol. If I remember right the vet said she was probably about 15 years old. She also would follow me to mailbox and back. I had her about a year and a half.

Long story short when I bought her she had a lump on her jaw, which we were told was where she got kicked and her jaw was broken and mended it's self. Another long story short, the vet told me she had what she thought might of been lumpy jaw which is mostly common in cows because the lump began over time to get bigger. The vet ran tests, and put Andromeda on "antibiotics" or at least I thought she did, it turned out these pills were pain killers and the vet knew she had cancer and never told me. I found out the hard way by waking up one morning to Andromeda laying in the field dying and the vet wouldn't come out to put her to sleep so we had to put her down the hard way. I've not owned another horse sense and probably never will, which is why I stick to simulations because this wasn't the first time we lost horses.

myyy baaaaaaabies! ♥

Teddy my gorgeous little chickenpony. ♥
He's nearly 2 and is an absolute sweetheart. He's a Stockhorse x Australian Pony, 14hh. I got him nearly two months ago completely unhandled and wild. He's come a really long way, I've taught him a lot. We even did an inhand show (an Australian thing) and came second. ♥

Web, my little darling. (Well, big darling.. he's 16.2hh)
He's the safest horse I've ever ridden. He's a thoroughbred and only 4, but he is so sensible and sweet. ♥ I love him to the moon and back. He recently came back from a loan home where they didn't look after him too well. :( He's never going anywhere again! ♥

Teddy - Buckskin

Web - Bay

So many beautiful horses you all have :)

I have 3 currently.

Kismet is a 15 yr old BLM Mustang Mare. She stands at 14.2HH and ia a copper sorrel color. I got her when she was 2 and barely halter broke and we have been inseparable ever since. She has done gymkhanas, mounted shooting, trail trials and endless miles out on trail. She is my go to gal.

(Kismet is the front left horse.) (Whiskey is the rear horse.)

Whiskey is a 3 yr old BLM Mustang Mare, ive had her in captivity just over a year now. I really love the Mustang. She was a reassignment from a friend who couldnt handle the whole deal. She is smart, reminds me alot of Kismets quirky personality. Shes been saddled and ground drives. More work ahead of us but she is sound with alot of unqie things, gun fire, tractors, dirt bikes and quads, been kidorized lol.

Old Man, is well....and old man. Hes a Dutch Warmblood in his 30s, we have had him almost 2 years. I bought him for my kids as they are mostly novice. He is worth his weight in gold, let me tell you he is the sweetest, most patient horse. Was told he was a high level dressage horse in his day, ended up injured, had his right front nerved. But the kids only play in the yard on him or do light trail so hes perfectly retired here.

Thunder is my first horse and sadly possibly my last. My life is too busy to ride right now. :(
I've owned him for 12 years and I outgrew him a few years back but never had the guts to sell him. He's 13.2 hh and almost 21 years old. He's my baby! (I was a LOT shorter when I was younger). Now he's a pasture pony which is totally ok with him. He likes just chilling..
The sorrel QH in the background of the second pic was his best bud. His owner was a friend of mine who moved here but sadly pasted away a few years ago and we sent Pecos (the sorrel) back to his home town to stay with my friend's friend cuz I couldn't keep him financially. The two got along great and Thunder got some good habits from Pecos. Pecos was an awesome horse to ride..retired cutting horse. Very sensitive to touch when riding..unlike my stubborn little guy. :) Still love Thunder though, even with all his crazy/stubborn quirks.

I lost my Jazzy girl just or a year ago now and I miss her dearly every day. She was a 19 yr old reg. Thoroughbred. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/jazz+z+miss
She produced 'Markin My Mark ( by Dynamic in the dark) who was an AQHA and NSBA champion. She was to be bred to AQHA congress champion, Good I Will Be, before his untimely passing.
She was a such a kind, sweet, gentle, loving soul...Not sure when Ill be ready for another horse...still hurtin too much over losing her.

I own the two most adorable horses here most probably.

Alex van de Berkenheuvel is a 85 cm high mini-Shetland Pony and he's now 8 years old. I have had him since he was 5 months old, I trust him the full 100% and he trusts me in return. I have him in front of the cart. He just loves pulling, we'll hopefully start dressage in 2017.
I walk him, cycle with him, bring him into a room with lots of children and dogs (4th of October), he's just so sweet, but very naughty as well.
He's a natural beautifull poser:

Just being naughty as well:

And swimming is lovely too:

And then I have the cutest foal living since November, since I want to have same bond with him as I have with Alex. He's called Jorie and now 9,5 months old. He's also a mini-Shetland pony. I will train him for the cart later on, he now goes on weekly walks with Alex. Jorie has no intention to be naughty at all, he acts incredibly cute and is just as cute in his acts as in his looks.
Hay is everything:

Just plain cute:

I think I spammed enough pictures now, haha
