The Icelandic horse community in the United States lost a king of a horse yesterday. Þröstur frá Innri Skeljabrekku was a gorgeous, black, 5-gaited stallion who literally changed lives. He was a breed ambassador and part of the Knights of Iceland show team for years and years. He was many people's introduction to the breed (including myself). He was a first prize stallion who was competed very successfully both in Iceland and in the US but was also frequently ridden by children. He was everything an Icelandic horse should be and he will be keenly missed.

I'm sure that's a devastating loss for the entire breed. Such a wonderful example of true Icelandic horses will be missed. :(
