The mare was lagging behind a bit, clearly still wary of Pepper. Though he tried to brush it off, it still stung a little. Pepper wasn't about to hurt the mare. There was no reason too. The red and white paint didn't look at her, his eyes darkening. "The same thing that happened to your barn. It burned down." He explained grimly. "I was in the pasture when it started. The human's house burned down first and none of them were able to escape. I managed to escape by breaking down the fence." Pepper focused on the trees ahead, pushing the fire from his mind. Bad memories wouldn't help anyone now.

The dapple grey narrowed her eyes sternly at him, scolding him as if he was a tiny foal. "While you go mindlessly running around like a foal, someone has to look out for danger. If you aren't paying attention predators or even humans could take the opportunity to attack." The mare ignored his snickering except for pinning her ears. This stallion didn't seem to use his mind too often. She'd barely just met him and Venus hadn't been impressed so far. Perhaps where he'd come from, they'd done things differently, but Venus wasn't sure he knew how herds around here worked. Before she could say anything more, they'd approached the barn. Venus stopped a safe distance away, her dark eyes searching among the flames. There was no sign of life. Human or horse so Venus let the tension in her muscles relax, relief filling her nerves.

Celestial's ears pinned back at the stallion's words. This allowed her to realize it wasn't just her life that was affected, but possibly others as well. The thought of the whole world just coming apart since shivers down the seal brown mare's spine. "Do.. Do you think there are others alive? Like us?" She seemingly whispered, her tail swaying from side to side as she walked along behind Pepper. As the two continued their conversation, her muscles began to relax slightly. She was beginning to warm up to stallion, seeing as he was no threat, however she kept her distance for safe measures. As they walked along for what seemed like forever, and thuddering of hooves were herd in the distance which caught her attention. Celestial stopped in her tracks and raised her head, her ears perked. She listened for a long while as the pounding of hooves became quiet once more. "Did you hear that by any chance? Sounded like someone was running around..." She mumbled, her voice rather low, and curious.

Stallion pinned his ears and gave out a loud snort, "Well well well. Someone is a party pooper after all. Lighten up." He snapped and flicked his tail to the side. As the two grew near to a barn caught in a blaze, something caught his eyes. "What the?" He questioned as he approached the fence connected to the burning barn. While the pasture was smoldering, it didn't bother him as he inspected the damage to the fence. It was clearly obvious something or someone broke open the picket fence in determination to run away from the danger. Dipping his head, Abyss flared his nostrils as he began to take in the different scents that littered the ground. "Two other horses were here not too long ago. Looks as if one destroyed the fence so the other can be free... Not a bad sign." He stated as he lifted his large equine away from the ground. He then focused his attention to the hooves traveling away from the pasture. The hooves were spread out, as if the duo were running at top speeds. Shaking his mane out, the stallion glanced over to the mare standing near him and gave her a slight nod, "Shall we follow?" Abyss questioned.
